“Green Knife and Spork” Cedar Park, 2019

Two new additions to my camping kit are the Opinel No. 8 knife and the Snow Peak titanium spork. They are my part of the food section of my kit, but the knife also does double-duty as just a general use item (cutting open a lot of boxes lately!).

I really like these two pieces because the designs and functions are so simple. But what’s interesting is that although they both “spark joy” for me, they are on different ends of the spectrum in a few areas. For instance, the Opinel knife is a classic with lots of history, constructed of steel and wood, is made in France, and is not the most advanced in terms of design/materials. The Snow Peak spork is ultra-modern, constructed from single piece of titanium, is made in Japan, and one of the most advanced in terms of design/materials. They are both beautiful items, though. And green! 💚 I love both of them. It’s a lot of fun to build out my camping gear when there are such cool items available.
