こんばんは。How’s it going?

Well, the freeze hit us overnight and the roads were treacherous so we all had a snow day today. I pretty much shut myself in the home-office with the doors closed which works out nicely because I have a portable heater that I like to use to keep that room warm like a sauna. Well, not that hot, but I tend to like it warmer than the rest of the family does. 😀

As you can see from today’s photo, we enjoyed a nice big serving of Japanese fried chicken, or karaage. We have a small Cuisinart deep-fryer, which is perfect for cooking up these small pieces of tender chicken. It doesn’t use too much cooking oil, and you can reuse the oil a few times before discarding it. It’s also pretty easy to clean. I highly recommend it.

I hope you bundled up and had a nice Tuesday!

こんばんは。How’s it going?

The delicious homemade meals just keep coming! Tonight we had an Indian-style chicken tikka masala, homemade naan, pickled onion, and cabbage salad. Whenever Mariko says she is making Indian food, the dinner-anticipation rises dramatically.

For things like curry, or basically anything that goes on rice, Koa always likes to mix it up before eating. We call it “Koa-style” now. It doesn’t look so appetizing, but I’m sure it still tastes good. 😀

こんばんは。げんき?

からあげをたべました!すごいおいしかった。Tonight we had karaage for dinner. It was so good! And also, as you can see in the first photo, we enjoyed a bit of saké. 🍶 It’s a bottle that we picked out at the market in California while we were on vacation. Just a small taste before we ate. It’s a school night after all. 😆

It seems like we had karaage not too long ago, but it’s always a welcome dinner. When Mariko told me we were having it, I said, “Yay!” When I told Bay, he said, “Yay!” When I told Koa, he said, “Really? Yay!” So we all enjoyed it. Koa like to have his with plenty of freshly squeezed lemon, Bay prefers his with a bit of Kewpie mayo, and I like it both ways, and also with a bit of salt to dip in. So yummy!

I hope you had a nice Thursday.
