I finally painted a purple sky that I like. It’s probably the fourth try! 😫 But I also found a blue-green that I like for the mountains. Next up is the foreground and then some clouds, and I also need to think about the stars. Fun fun fun.

I have so much fun bicycling, especially on my Brompton folding bicycle. Unlike my road bicycle, the Brompton seems at home going at a relaxed pace, with many stops to smell the roses and take photos.

The Brompton is so easy to dismount too. It’s actually really fun to ride it like a scooter, standing with the left foot on the pedal, but having your whole body on the left side of the bike, then hopping off directly into a walk. I’m still practicing the opposite: Pushing off like you are riding a scooter or skateboard, then getting on the seat and pedaling away.

I spent some time practicing this at the local stadium parking lot this afternoon, and then had to take a picture of Piplup.

Mariko asked if I could make a painting for her for her upcoming birthday, so I went to the Jerry’s Artarama to buy some supplies. I’m kind of excited to paint!

I really enjoyed the cloud-cover on today’s neighborhood run.

I’m also enjoying using the Simple RAW Camera app for my iPhone 12 Mini. I find that the iPhone’s regular photos are too processed for my taste, especially when I bring them into Lightroom for editing, but shooting RAW on the iPhone bypasses the iPhone “magic” and allows me to post-process the photos with greater control. For normal photos, I’ll still use the iPhone’s camera, but for cloud photos, RAW is the way to go.

FYI, the iPhone 12 Mini doesn’t have the option natively to enable RAW photos to be saved, so you have to use an app.

I’m getting psyched for the upcoming Inktober! Just like last year, I’ll be doing daily drawings on my iPad but not following the official Inktober prompts. And of course, these won’t be ink drawings.

I’ve been really lax about my digital drawing, so this will be good for me. I know I learned a lot last year and am looking forward to what this year will bring as far as new techniques and preferences.

Today’s photo is of a drawing I started. I am basically getting a line drawing ready to use as a basis for different kinds of styles.

The original painting is The Virgin of the Annunciation by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo which I viewed at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Unfortunately, one of Murillo’s other paintings was in the news recently because of a botched restoration attempt.

Oh well, nothing is permanent…

Lately I’ve been enjoying just doodling in my sketchbook using my Pilot Metropolitan and Noodler’s Bulletproof Black Ink. It’s fun to just let the lines go where they want to.
