I’ve started using my iPad for reading sheet music, and it has cleared so much clutter off my desk. It feels great to have fewer loose papers sitting around. When I am learning a brand-new song, I still like having a paper copy because it is easier to mark things up and see everything at a glance. But when I want to revisit an older song and refresh my memory on a section, the iPad is perfect.

I keep all my sheet music as PDFs in a OneDrive folder, and I can open them from any of my devices. I manage everything from my MacBook, and it works really well. It would be even nicer if I could create a direct shortcut to my Sheet Music folder in OneDrive, but for now the setup is still very convenient.

My pen collection is getting smaller as I look to see what I haven’t used and will probably never use. I have gotten some as gifts or just picked them up in random places, which is not good for someone who wants to declutter. I need to get better at this. 😁

As part of our decluttering journey, I am finally disposing of several old, broken hard drives. I wasn’t sure how to prepare them for recycling, but thanks to YouTube, I discovered that scratching the platters is a good way to ensure that the data would be difficult to retrieve. And even if it was retrieved, it’s probably of no use to anyone. But, better safe than sorry!

I’ve started to seriously declutter our garage, and one of the big hurdles has been cleared. Several years ago we bought a massage chair, and it was delivered on a large wooden palette. And that palette has been leaning on the wall in our garage ever since. But today I took the sledge hammer, crowbar, and circular saw to it and slayed the beast! Its bones are now in a pile waiting to be dumped into next weeks garbage bin. This accomplishment paves the way for the easier tasks (and also gives us more space in the garage. I wish I did it earlier!

On the right side of the photo are my three go-to pens, including my newest pen, the Pearl White Pilot Cavalier. I love it so much! It writes smoothly, is slim yet comfortable, and the color is beautiful.

On the left side of the notebook are a bunch of disassembled pens which I just cleaned and will give away. Most are inexpensive Jinhao pens which are fine, but they just don’t spark joy for me. The Sailor Fude (gold) is one that I may keep because the nib is unique in my collection, but the rest I will be saying goodbye to. Thank you for your service!

I’m a bit sad to be selling my beloved Chromebook, but I really no longer need it and it would be better if it found a new owner who would use it. I will miss looking at the stickers on it, which I think looked great on the white plastic shell. In fact, if Apple made a white MacBook Air, I would have gotten it so that I could sticker it up again. But now that I think about it, I can probably get a white shell case for it, right? Hmmm… something to think about.

In the meantime, though, the Chromebook has been listed on Facebook marketplace and there’s a fair amount of interest so it should have a new home in a few days.

Over the years, we’ve accumulated quite a few electronic devices and it’s now time to get rid of the ones we don’t use. In the photo above, I’m resetting one of our old laptops to get ready to sell. I also have given away two Android tablets, a broken PlayStation 3, and am trying to sell a Wii U system and a Chromebook. In addition, we’ve got BluRay/DVDs, books, video games, etc. to either sell or donate.

It feels so good to simplify our devices! And hopefully someone will be able to get some use out of the things we weren’t using.

We’ve been decluttering a bunch of old things lately, and this Hawaii puzzle will be passed along to a friend. I think it was given to Bay as a gift when he turned one. I’m happy that it will find use in a new home… it’s a cool little puzzle!

FYI, I used the “multilens” effect to split the photo into four horizontal pieces. I like the effect.

I like the shape of the bottle, the lettering style, and the color. It only holds a few pens, which is great because I have way too many and I need to reduce/simplify my collection. A cleaner, less-cluttered desk makes me more productive so it’s a perfect pen-holder for me. Another item that sparks joy and is functional too. Win-win!

One of the cool things about living in Cedar Park is that once a year, they offer to take your hazardous materials. They accept household paint, motor oil, cleaners, old tires, electronics, etc. I chatted with one of the workers, and as expected, most of the items were buckets of paint and cans of spray paint. That was pretty much the bulk of what I had to give them as well, but I also had some old automotive oil and fluids, caulk, and degreaser.

This year, the dropoff location was the neighborhood football stadium. When I arrived at 10 am, there was a super long line of cars… I was amazed! But it moved fairly quickly, and I was finished in about 35 minutes. I have to say it was very well organized and run, and there were plenty of workers and staff to help out.

Next year, I might just have a bunch of old cooking oil to drop off, but not much paint. It feels great to have all that stuff off of our shelves and out of the garage. I have a little more space now, so I can get some things off the ground, like toolboxes and tool bags. Slowly but surely, the garage is getting tidier!
