こんばんは!Hi everyone, how’s it going? How was your Monday?

Mine was pretty good, although I ate way too many sweets today. As you may or may not know, I don’t usually eat sweets or sugary things like sodas. I don’t have too much of a sweet tooth to begin with, but since I don’t eat candy regularly I don’t crave it either. But today I had a lot of sweets!

A coworker is visiting from Sweden this week and he brought some chocolates so of course I had to try a couple of them 🍫 (they were delicious) and then there was some dessert in the breakroom after lunch. I didn’t partake in the chocolate or carrot cake, but I did have some Bluebell Dutch Chocolate ice cream 🍦 (also delicious). Then this evening we had some cookies. 🍪 That’s way too much sugar for me!

But besides all the sweet stuff, I had a whole lot of curry as well. We went out to lunch at a Thai restaurant where I had a super-spicy green curry and rice. It was tasty! As I mentioned before, I love Thai food. I could eat it every day. Well, maybe not that often, but I do enjoy it a lot.

Finally for dinner, my wife made a gigantic pot of Japanese beef curry which is always a favorite. 🍛 We had it with eggs and rice for the perfect meal. I always eat too much, but I cannot help myself… I’m sure you understand. Doesn’t it look delicious?

Oh, by the way, happy leap year day! 🎉

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday! おやすみなさい!

Quickest week ever

こんばんは!Happy Friday! 😀

In yesterday’s post I mentioned that this week has been going by so fast. I was wondering if today it would slow down and drag on… but no, it kept on flying by! I think although I am very busy, I am having fun, and you know what they say, right? Time flies when you’re having fun!

Speaking of fun, last night I printed out 8 Instax prints. Why did I print so many? Well, I bought some new print sleeves and they looks nice and fun. A little crafty but I like them a lot. I’ll post a pic tomorrow, when the light is better (as usual, I am blogging at night before I go to bed).

The Instax Printer continues to be a lot of fun… I have a few things that I think are important and I don’t place restrictions on when buying or creating. One of them is photo books, and another is printing photos! It’s kind of an interesting aspect of photography for me. I get a lot of pleasure from snapping photos, processing the images, printing the photos, and looking at the prints. Photography is so cool because there are so many angles to the entire process. And there are other aspects that I haven’t even explored, such as exhibiting larger prints. Something to look forward to for sure.

Today’s photo is of some harumaki (egg rolls) that we had alongside some Thai curry for dinner. The harumaki looked better than they tasted, honestly. These were store-bought frozen egg rolls, but deep-fried so they look really good and had a nice flaky crunch to them.

Well, it’s time to get some rest. I wake up early on Saturday’s too so I need by beauty rest. 😜

こんばんは!How’s it going? It’s just about Friday… this week has gone by so quickly. Maybe the fastest for me in a long time, maybe ever. I am so busy at work that the days just fly by!

I haven’t talked about the podcasts that I enjoy listening to these days lately, so I figured I would mention a couple. Of course, I listen to a lot of photography podcasts but my favorite ones are Street Focus with Valerie Jardin and the Photofocus podcasts with Scott Bourne and Marco Larousse.

What I enjoy about these is that they are not really centered on gear or technology. Instead, they focus on the art and inspiration pertaining to photography. I think that at this point in my photography hobby, I am less into gear and specs and more interested in photographic expression. I’m not saying that I am an expert… on the contrary, I have so much to learn about the essence of photography and what it means to have a certain style. I don’t really have one… and as a non-professional, I don’t feel the need to have one. At this time, I just want to document our lives. I try to think what could be interesting to my great grandchildren who might wonder how his or her ancestors lived.

And from a lot of my photos and posts, I bet they would know that Mariko is an amazing cook and baker. Today’s photo is of some donuts that Mariko made at home. I haven’t tried one yet, but they look amazing, don’t they?

Well, I am pretty exhausted… I have been fasting during the daytime and having one meal in the evening. So, I feel great physically and mentally, but get worn out quickly. But it feels good actually… hard to explain but I like it. Makes me feel alive I guess.

Bed time now though. おやすみなさい!

A good day

こんばんは!Hello! How’s it going?

Today was a good day for me. I got so much work done in the morning that the rest of the day just flowed along nicely! I guess this happens quite often, and it’s good that I am a morning person because when I am productive, it sets up the rest of the day to go smoothly. But the day didn’t start out very nicely… I woke up stressed-out about all the things I have to do at work. However, after I went through my morning routine and was fully awake, my workload didn’t seem that crazy and it just got better from there. I notice that a lot of mornings go like this, so when I wake up and am stressed-out, I now realize that it will soon pass and that makes it a lot easier to deal with.

So the day was going well, and then I got a huge boost when Mariko asked what I wanted for dinner, and Oyakodon was one of the choices. So of course I chose that! I think I might have mentioned that Okonomiyaki is my favorite food, but I have to change my mind and say that Oyakodon is my absolute favorite food. It’s what I ask for as my birthday meal, and if I had to choose my last meal on Earth, it would be Oyakodon.

Tonight’s dinner was DELICIOUS!!!

Mariko was surprised when I first told her that I wanted to eat Oyakodon for my birthday, but now I think she has grown used to it. Maybe she thought I was joking at first, but after so many years of always choosing Oyakodon, I must be serious! 😜

Related to food, tonight’s photo (14 of my 365 project) at the top of this post is a cool little metal box of shelves. It holds hashi (chopsticks) rests that Mariko made in her pottery class. I think it’s really neat! 👍

I hope you also had a great day. Let’s have a good Friday as well!

こんばんは!How are you doing?

Today was filled with pizza at every turn! 🍕 It was amazing… First off in the pizza odyssey was lunch. I met with a couple friends at a pizza place, where we enjoyed New York style thin-crust pizza. I love that style, but actually, I like just about all kinds of pizza so that might not be saying much! At any rate, I probably ate more than I should have. 😃 After that, I returned to the office, and there in the breakroom were several boxes of pizza! I was so full from lunch that I passed on these slices. But they did tempt me!

Later for dinner, we heated up more leftover pizza that we had previously enjoyed on Valentines Day. I had a half slice only because I was still full from lunch. I thought that it was crazy that there was so much pizza all day, but then I had to go pick up Bay from his school baseball game. And when I picked him up… guess what he was eating? That’s right! PIZZA! 🍕 I couldn’t believe it.

Well, I think I am all pizza’d out for a while. Whew! I think I need to run around the neighborhood and burn off these calories. Seriously.

📷 Today’s photo is of our tea supply at work. At around 2:30 pm myself and a coworker enjoy “tea time”, which is simply getting a nice hot cup to get us through the rest of the day. I usually stick to either Green, Darjeeling, or Chai and I was craving the latter. As you can see from the photo, I was out of luck! (Someone else had written that note on the box) Oh well… hopefully we’ll get more Chai soon. I enjoy that flavor a lot! 🍵

Well, I hope you had a nice Tuesday! The weather here in Austin is in the 80s ☀️ and tomorrow will be the same. It’s really too early in the year for weather like this, isn’t it?

Take care and have a nice day!
