Today, we continued our odyssey with just a little bit left of New Mexico before crossing into Texas. It took us about 8 hours to cross half the state before arriving at home. Once again, we had the ballgame to keep us company and this time the Dodgers won. Yay!

The drive back to Texas from California began today! Koa and I set out on our two-day road trip, with today’s leg being a long, easy stretch. We passed the time listening to the Dodger game (sadly, they didn’t win) and eventually stopped for the night in Lordsburg, New Mexico. Tomorrow, the drive continues through West Texas, and then we’ll be home!

We kicked off the day with a quick breakfast at our hotel before heading to the International UFO Museum & Research Center. It was my third visit, and I feel the exhibits have improved a bit over the years. It’s still quite hokey but undeniably charming – definitely worth a stop!

Next, Bay drove us to Albuquerque, where we enjoyed a tasty lunch at Taqueria Mexico. Bay’s birria tacos were incredible, and my carnitas burrito wasn’t bad either!

I took over the driving afterward, and we arrived at our hotel in Sedona by early evening. A long travel day, but fun to spend it with family!

Today, we kicked off our road trip from Texas to California. I handled this leg of the drive, making a few stops along the way for food, fuel, and some photos — including this one after sunset. Once we arrived in Roswell, New Mexico, we settled in and headed out for dinner and drinks. I’d been eagerly anticipating that margarita since crossing the Texas/New Mexico border!

Today was the start of our road-trip vacation to New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. The first leg of the journey took us through north Texas (not quite up to the panhandle). We saw plenty of cotton fields and had to stop and take a few photos. The cotton was so clean and soft. Amazing!

After a short lunch (sushi!) in the town of Snyder, Texas, we made our way across the border and into New Mexico at the town of Texico. Of course we had to take a photo of the sign, which was not so pretty, as well as the water tower which was much more photogenic (first photo).

After that it was a long push towards Santa Fe, where we checked into our hotel and then headed to Café Castro for a yummy meal of New Mexican Steak and Carne Adovada. It was served with a side of sopapillas and honey. I asked the waiter how to eat them, and he said you can put honey on (or in) it and have as a dessert, or just eat as you would a tortilla with the meal. The sopapilla was really good and it was the first time that I had it not as a dessert. I highly recommend Café Castro. We left very satisfied.

One of the cool things about the drive was that the sky was full of cloud activity, which is heaven for a cloud enthusiast like myself.

Hello! Today, Koa and I drove up to Arlington to catch the Angels play the Rangers. I didn’t have any Angels gear to wear (in support of my brother and his favorite team) so I wore my Dodgers cap.

I was excited to see future Hall-of-Famer Albert Pujols play, but it was a coincidence that Yu Darvish would be pitching for the Rangers. And we got a treat because Pujols cranked a line-drive homer to left field in the first! Other than that, Darvish pitched well, but the Rangers just couldn’t score any runs for him.

We had a good time, and it was worth the long 3-hour drive up to see a major league game.
