こんばんは! Hello, did you have a nice Friday the 13th?

Mine was good, with a lot of work finished, but what was fun was watching Koa play baseball in the evening. He hit a rocket to center field, but it was caught. Still, that was his best-hit ball ever and he was fired up!

Anyways, the weekend is here and it should be a busy one, with another baseball game, Japanese school, and a piano recital. Should be fun!

こんばんは! Hello, how are you doing?

I’m doing okay, but my neck is really sore. It’s actually sore in my upper back, but it’s because I slept in a bad position last night. Earlier today, I could turn my head to the left without any pain, but I couldn’t turn it to the right as easily. But it wasn’t so terrible until I got home.

So now I am lying in bed, trying to not put any pressure on it. Hopefully tomorrow it will feel better! It’s not an awful amount of pain, but like a dull headache, hours of the mild pain can really take its toll…

Anyways, today’s photo is of a really cool dish which is in the shape of an onigiri, or Japanese rice ball. When you pour shoyu into the rectangular depression, it looks like nori (seaweed) and it really looks like onigiri! My wife made these at her pottery studio. Pretty cool, huh?

Take care and talk again tomorrow!

こんばんは!Hi, how’s it going?

The week is half-over! Has it been going ok? My week has been good, especially at work. I feel energized in the new office and I have started a couple new projects, and continued a couple old ones that had fallen by the wayside. It’s kind of exhausting, though. It takes a lot of concentration and that can be fatiguing. Every night this week I feel so tired… but it’s a good kind of tired. Like how you feel good after exercising because you know the effort is important and healthy. 💪

I haven’t taken many cloud photos lately, but this afternoon when I arrived home, the sun was peeking through and it looked really cool. So I couldn’t resist! ☁️ 📷 I bumped up the clarity a bit using a graduated filter in Lightroom… I think it came out pretty good!

Below is a photo of tonight’s dinner – Hawaiian-style char-siu chicken. It was so yummy! We got to use our new grill for the first time, too. I’m happy to report that it works nicely and is so easy to use. A successful inaugural effort. 😊

Just two more days in the work week, and then it’s the weekend. Let’s have a good Thursday!

こんばんは! Hello, how’s it going?

Today’s photo is of my desk space at work. Our HR department was cleaning up their supply stock and they had these little white clips that attach to fabric walls, so I grabbed four of them. They are perfect for my Instax prints! The clips are really handy because this particular fabric partition (they call it a “modesty partition”!) does not have the material inside that allows push-pins to stick in them, so these clips look better than just plain tape.

For this photo, I used the Velvia film simulation, and I think the highlights and shadows were both bumped up +1. So, the color palette printout in the photo is a bit more saturated than it should be. But I like seeing it extra-vivid! 🌈

Have a good evening!

こんばんは! Hello, how’s it going?

Tonight’s photo is of another delicious dinner that Mariko prepared for us. It’s a Japanese style meal, with ebi-furai (breaded and fried shrimp), hamburg-steak, noodles, and some salsa. It’s very eclectic I guess! But soooo yummy!

After dinner I started learning a new song on the ukulele – Utada Hikaru’s “花束を君に” which is the theme song to the current Asadora, Toto Nee-chan. It’s an awesome song! I love it. 🎵

Here’s a great cover version:

Have a nice evening!
