I’m all packed and ready to go to Japan! ✈️🇯🇵 It’s hard to believe that I’m finally going to visit our house there. If you didn’t know, we bought a home in Hyogo prefecture, and the renovation work has just been completed. It still hasn’t fully sunk in that we actually own a house in Japan. Honestly, it feels like a dream come true ✨

I’m traveling with a full suitcase and a carry-on. The carry-on is carefully packed with dishes and pottery, while the checked bag is filled with tortillas, salsa, Mexican spices, and some Austin beer 🍺🌮 We’re planning a small party at our house for the craftspeople who worked on the renovation, and it feels really special to be able to share a little taste of home with them.

I can’t wait to finally see everything in person and celebrate this moment. It’s going to be such a fun and meaningful trip 💛

Day Two at the Conference

I wrapped up my work at the conference today. It was a nice couple of days meeting people and spending time with my team. I really enjoyed getting to hang out in person after mostly connecting online.

The only downside was the commute. It took about 50 minutes to get home, which was not my favorite part of the day. Luckily, I had a good audiobook to keep me company, which made the ride a lot more bearable. 🎧

Working at the Resort

I’m working at a company event for the next couple of days. My main role is taking photos, including headshots and keynote speeches. 📸 It’s been fun finally meeting coworkers in person who I usually only interact with through email or Slack.

That said, it’s also pretty socially tiring for me. I’m grateful that I don’t have to attend the evening events, so I can recharge and take things at my own pace. Overall, it’s a nice balance. I’m happy that management is super accommodating to different styles of work.

Sticker Tool

I picked up a pair of tiny tweezers that are specifically designed for applying stickers. And I have to admit, they work! Placement is so much easier and way more accurate. No more peeling, re-peeling, and trying to nudge a sticker one millimeter to the left.

Of course, none of that stopped me from carefully, meticulously, and confidently placing the sticker on my earbuds case completely upside-down. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Doh!
