Bicycling is Fun

I have so much fun bicycling, especially on my Brompton folding bicycle. Unlike my road bicycle, the Brompton seems at home going at a relaxed pace, with many stops to smell the roses and take photos.

The Brompton is so easy to dismount too. It’s actually really fun to ride it like a scooter, standing with the left foot on the pedal, but having your whole body on the left side of the bike, then hopping off directly into a walk. I’m still practicing the opposite: Pushing off like you are riding a scooter or skateboard, then getting on the seat and pedaling away.

I spent some time practicing this at the local stadium parking lot this afternoon, and then had to take a picture of Piplup. 😀

I hope you had a great day!

Light Storms

The forecast said it would be raining, but the ground looked dry so I went for a neighborhood run. It was fun to look at where the darkest clouds were and imagine them soaking the ground below them and happily, they stayed if the distance.

The area behind my right knee (I don’t know what that is called) has been sore lately so I need to keep an eye on it. But it’s not preventing me from running or bicycling so that’s a good thing.

I hope you had a nice day!

SPAMbap

Mariko made more SPAM kimbap today and I overindulged and ate all the leftovers. It was so good though!

My weight has gone up by about 5 lbs since Thanksgiving, which is no surprise considering all the holiday food and sweets I have been eating. It will be interesting to see how my weight changes as I get back into my regular running routine and eating habits.

But it’s also interesting to note that after running, my appetite is seemingly insatiable. That’s the reason there are no kimbap leftovers for the kids today. 🫣

New Watch

My family gave me an Apple Watch for Christmas, which was totally unexpected. It’s fun to use! I like playing with the different watch faces, and the functionality is nice. I like to be able to see the weather conditions mostly, and the sunrise/sunset times.

I’ve also worn it while running, but since I use Strava on the phone, the watch is there just to see my heart rate (out of curiosity). But the first time I went running with it, it was very distracting, with pings and dings and other stuff. When I run, I like to just zone out and listen to music or my own breathing, so the constant alerts were pretty annoying. I’ve since added a “Run” focus mode that disables everything except calls and messages from family and that solves that problem. Yay!
