“Dusk Piplup” Cedar Park, 2024
A lovely sky, light wind, and mild temperature made for a very nice ride this evening!

“Home Tickets” Cedar Park, 2024
daily slice-of-life photo blog of a Gen-X dad
Today was the first day of the year where the temperatures have dropped below the freezing mark. I have this silly tradition in which I hop on my motorbike and go for a ride when that happens. I was gonna skip it this year, but the decided, what the hell, let’s do it. So I bundled up with my wind-proof jacket, neck gaiter, winter gloves, and Uniqlo heatech base layers and went for a ride around the neightborhood. It was fun but I quickly learned where the cold parts of my clothing were. Basically, my face and my fingers. I have heated grips on my motorcycle and they keep my palms warm, but the outside of my fingers were frozen! Ack!
After I came home, had some lunch and warmed up, I put on my non-motorcycle warm clothes (first pic) and went for a ride to the park. As expected, the trail was pretty much empty, so it was a very pleasant ride.
The photo below is of a little mouse in my motorcycle tank bag. We have this yucky cat toy that had been going back between my wife and myself, hidden in places like under her pillow, in my sock drawer, etc. Then one day I found it here in the tank bag, and decided that that is where it would stay. 😀
Went for a ride this chilly evening with Piplup and saw the lights on at the high school athletic field so I decided to check it out. They were practicing lacrosse, which looked pretty cool. After taking a photo of Piplup, I headed back to the warmth of home.
I went for a lunch ride with Piplup, my Brompton bicycle, today along the hike and bike trail. It was a yucky, grey, and cold day as you can see from the picture. But the upside was that there weren’t many people on the trail. So that was nice. 😄
An hour of fishing at the local pond is a perfect way to unwind and relax. And bicycling there is a nice bonus! Too bad I only got one bite and no fish… I think the fish are less active now that it’s getting colder. Oh well, still fun!
