こんばんは。How’s it going?

Tonight my 15-year-old son and I went to a pay-per-view boxing match showing at a local movie theater. I had not been to one before, so I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but it was kind of what you would imagine: watching sports tv on a very big screen with a bunch of other people. 😀 The main event featured Mexico’s top two fighters, Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. with Canelo being the heavy favorite. But before the big fight, there were three undercard fights, which were all pretty entertaining.

What made it fun was that the crowd was really into the fight. I’d say 75% of the crowd were Mexican or Mexican/American, and lots of the crowd cheered when their fighters were introduced. And in the post-fight interviews, they were laughing without needing to wait for the English translation. It was cool to feel the energy from the crowd, even if we were all watching the live event from hundreds of miles away.

Anyways, the main bout was a bit disappointing because Chavez Jr. didn’t put up the kind of fight everyone was expecting. On the other hand, Canelo fought exactly as expected, which was with precision and power. He won every single round and had Chavez Jr. bleeding from the nose within the first minute. It was a very one-sided fight. Still, a fun event and I am glad we went.

As you can see from today’s photo, we received fight posters with admission, and the designs were pretty cool!

The next big fight will be in September, and Bay said he definitely wants to go. 🙂

I hope you had a nice Saturday!
