Yes, American cheese in Shin Ramyun is so yummy! I drop an egg in the boiling water 3 minutes before it’s done, then two slices of American cheese. Mariko says Mozzarella is also very popular, so I need to try that too. 🍜💗🌶🔥
Today during my lunch break, Mariko and I went in search of a certain type of flower for our yard. We heard that Hill Country Water Gardens had some, but unfortunately they said they were all out and their suppliers didn’t have any either. So, that was a bit of a bummer, but the nursery itself was a lot of fun to check out. As the name implies, water features are their specialty and there were plenty of ponds, pond plants, bird baths, and fountains to look at. Not only that, but they have what seemed to be a nice selection of pond fish including many varieties of koi. Who knew there were so many varieties! koi

Tonight’s bike ride took me to the elementary school on the other side of the neighborhood. While riding around the front of the school, I noticed that they have a Little Free Library there. That makes three of these libraries that I know of in our neighborhood. I love them!
I didn’t see any interesting books, but I did notice the cool handle on the door. It’s appropriate since the school mascot is a ray. 😀

During my lunch break I cleaned the drive train on my bicycle. My Kona Blast is 20 years young and this is the first time I’ve actually cleaned the chain, cassette, and crankset so I was looking forward giving the bike a little love. I used a degreaser and stiff brush to work all the grime loose, then rinsed it all off with the hose. I don’t have any proper bicycle lube, so I used transmission fluid, which is a popular lubricant for motorcycle chains. It’s also a good cleaner, which I found out because after wiping the excess fluid, the cassette was shiny! I forgot what it looked like new. 😆
By the way, I removed the “dork disk”, which is the plastic piece attached to the spokes by the cassette. It serves little purpose, and it was yellow with age and cracked off dramatically when I tried to remove it. 😊

Well, our youngest son got his license this morning!
We were pretty fortunate to be able to make an appointment at the DPS (DMV) just a few days after he passed his driving test. The lady at the driving school said that appointments in Austin were backed up for 5 or 6 months… which would put us at December or January! She suggested to use the online reservations system to look for DPS offices farther away from the city. That turned out to be excellent advice, and we were able to schedule an 8:05 am appointment at the Lampasas DPS, which is an hour north of home. We were the first ones there, and in fact, when we left a half hour later, there was only one other person waiting for her 8:35 appointment.
What a difference this tiny rural office is from the busy DPS mega-center in Pflugerville where we went for Bay’s license and driving test. I highly recommend taking this route and making an appointment away from major cities. It’s like an alternate reality where everything is right in the world. 😀
