Bay cooked us “Beer-Battered Fish” tonight using a recipe from a book he is reading, Salt Fat Acid Heat. It was super-yummy! He also made an incredible tartar-sauce that even Koa (who despises mayo and mayo-like sauces) enjoyed.
It’s so nice to know that our son, who lives much of the year away from home with his college roommates, has great cooking skills. 😄
Mariko brought a couple of growlers back from Colorado, but they are so huge that we were worried it would be too much for just two of us to drink at dinner, so they’ve been sitting in the fridge. Well, tonight was the night! And actually, it was a good size for two of us. 🙂
Tonight we enjoyed Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. I love it! My favorite is Osaka-style, but Hiroshima style is delicious as well. I am so full… I couldn’t stop eating. 😁
This evening Mariko made some double-deep-fried karaage. Wow. Just super. And our oldest son made a yummy green sauce to go with it. In fact, we had the green sauce, Zhong sauce, and Kewpie mayo to choose from. Karaage is a family favorite, for sure, and the homemade sauce made it extra-special. ♥️
A few weeks ago, Koa had carne asada fries at SFO airport and said they were delicious, so we made something similar for dinner at home. Instead of making carne asada from scratch though, I bought some marinated beef for fajitas. I think it turned out pretty good!
But not as good as the fries that Koa had at SFO. So, some tweaking to our recipe is needed to kick it up a few notches!
In other dinner news, we ran out of tequila so we made mezcal margaritas to enjoy when we were cooking. They were yummy (and potent). But I really need to replenish our tequila supply. 😆
I hope you had a nice day! またね〜
