I went for a ride this evening, hoping the rain held off. It was about 7 pm and getting dark, so I wore my beautiful hi-viz reflective “vest”. Better safe than sorry!

While on Maui, my mom asked if I wanted this camera that she found at the house. It’s my grandpa’s old Fujifilm TW-300 point & shoot camera, dating back to ~1986. I said sure! The camera is in pristine condition, and is the Japanese version, with hiragana printed on the back. I actually don’t know if I will ever run a roll of film thru it, but the possibility is there. The challenge might be finding some lithium batteries that fit into it.
Working from Maui means I have to start the day early so I can keep my regular hours. How early? Well, it’s a 4-hour time difference, so I’ll begin when it’s still dark out. But that’s okay because I can enjoy the nice Maui sunrises! I think it’s worth it.
The morning goes by pretty quickly actually, and I can end my work day by about 1 pm and have the afternoon to hang out with my family.
Anyway, for this trip, I decided to bring the Olympus E-PL9 and shoot primarily in Toy Camera mode. It’s really fun and it feels like I am just snapping shots with a point and shoot film camera. There’s minimal post-processing which means I save a lot of time (not that I edit for very long with my Fujifilm camera).
Today we went to Gyu-Kaku for some yakiniku. It was yummy! Since it was during happy hour, we ordered many different types of meat. And also a pitcher of beer which we couldn’t finish. $16 for a pitcher of Kirin!
Today’s photos were taken using the Toy Camera mode on the Olympus E-PL9. I set it to square format to get that old Polaroid look and enjoy it very much! You’ll probably be seeing lots more photos like this in the future.
My Fujifilm X-E4 also has a similar filter, but I think the Olympus does a better job at it.
I hope you had a good day! またね〜

My camera & photos
I use a Fujifilm X-series camera for most of the photos on this site and my Instagram. Why not pick one up for yourself?
