I’ve started listening to the second book in the Vera Wong series, Vera Wong’s Guide to Snooping (on a Dead Man), and I’m already hooked. The narrator, Eunice Wong, is a delight. Her delivery brings so much personality and warmth to the story, making the characters feel alive. I’m only a short way in, but so far it’s been great, and the continuation from the first book is seamless, even though it happens maybe a year since the first book ended. I’m very happy to be back in Vera Wong’s world!

I started watching the drama Gimbap & Onigiri, and so far I’m really enjoying it. It’s exactly the kind of cozy, comforting show I’d normally binge in a single weekend. Unfortunately for my impatience, it’s a brand new series, so only one episode is released each week. Now I’m torn. Do I wait until the whole thing is finished and binge it properly, or do I lean into the slow joy of looking forward to a new episode every Monday?

Mariko and Bay are heading off to Japan for a long visit, and before they left, Bay made one important request. Burgers. Happy to oblige! I thought I did a pretty solid job with mine, as pictured below, but let’s be honest. Mariko’s burger assembly skills are on another level.
