As Seen on Today’s Run

Here are a few photos from today’s run around the neighborhood.

The garden at one of the elementary schools looks like it hasn’t been tended to during this year, which is understandable because of the pandemic.

It’s almost election day, and I think I will miss the yard signs after this is all over. I liked the “I’m so gonna vote” sign!

I like how they put Hawai’i very distant from the mainland.

My shoes are nearing 500 km, and I got an alert that I should consider replacing them. I love my On Cloud shoes, and will purchase another pair when the time comes. By the way, this run completed the REI x On 10K Challenge on Strava. I’m supposed to receive a coupon in my inbox… maybe I can use it on some new running gear? We’ll see!

PC Gaming – Civ VI

I took advantage of an offer from EA Games to “buy” Sid Meier’s Civilization VI for free a few months ago, and finally got around to playing it. I was actually looking for a distraction from game 6 of the World Series since baseball can be so stressful to me, and so Civ 6 was finally booted up.

What a fun game! I’ve always enjoyed turn-based world strategy games like Age of Empires, but never really got into Civ before. The graphics are excellent, especially running at 1440p on my newish monitor. My computer isn’t the newest, but everything runs smoothly, with no lag and no crashing (so far).

I’ve only just scratched the surface of the game and I can tell there are many different ways to play. But what I like about it is that it seems like a nice game to pick up now and then and try out different scenarios, or even have multiple games going at once. Speaking of games, the Dodgers won, and the World Series drought from 1988 is finally over! 😀

Oysters and Hamachi

Here are a few photos of some oysters and hamachi (and buri) that our friend’s prepared for dinner. It was amazing! The buri is just a different part of the hamachi, and it was sliced thin so we could enjoy it in a nabe (hot pot).

You know, this is all food from the sea, but it would be weird to call it “seafood”. When I think of that word, my mind pictures Red Lobster and fried food. I wonder if others feel the same?

Anyway, I hope you had a good day!
