My son is visiting for a few days, so I made a big pot of chili. We’ve been enjoying chili-gohan: chili over rice. ñI always add fried egg and cheese, plus jalapeno, sour cream, and hot sauce if available. So good!

Kiki and I set off on a fun ride east, exploring the backroads past Taylor. We successfully dodged most of the rain, only getting caught in a light shower towards the end of our trip. But the dramatic clouds made for a beautiful backdrop! What a great ride.



In the living room, the shadows fell at an unexpected angle, a consequence of the brewing storm. The sun’s light, blocked by a dark patch of clouds, was being reflected from the north, creating an odd, unfamiliar pattern on the walls and floor. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on.
