I set up the Kotatsu today temporarily using the tortilla blanket until I can dig out our bigger comforter. Not even a minute after it was ready, Yuzu had already claimed her spot inside, basking in all the cozy warmth.

Many of the trees here in Central Texas are shifting into beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows. I went for a walk in the warm 75 F afternoon air and was honestly stunned by some of the bright colors on display. Even one of the trees in our own backyard is looking especially amazing right now. It definitely makes doing dishes by the kitchen window a lot more pleasant.

Tonight I took Kiki, my 2007 BMW F650 GS, out for a relaxed ride around the neighborhood. We rolled down some of the same streets I used to ride on my Supercub many years ago, and the nostalgia factor was very high. The neighborhood has changed quite a bit since then, but cruising through it on two wheels still feels just as good. And this time of year makes it even better. Riding past all the glowing holiday lights was fantastic.

Mariko made a huge batch of korokke tonight. She plans to freeze most of them for later, but with three hungry young men and one older man in the house, I have a feeling they will not last very long.

Tonight was taco night at our house, and it was a good one. We had al pastor and barbacoa to choose from, plus two kinds of salsa, sour cream, jalapeños, serranos, avocado, onion, cilantro, cojita & oaxaca cheeses, and plenty of lime. I ate so many tacos that I honestly lost count.
We warmed the corn tortillas on our comal before tucking them into the tortilla basket, and it made a huge difference. They came out soft, warm, and full of flavor. Definitely the right way to do taco night. 🌮
