Today our youngest graduated from high school. It was a very nice ceremony, and we were very proud because our son is the student body president, and gave the welcoming remarks and introductions, then sat on stage. Amazing!

Next year, he’s off to college so our house will be quiet… We’ll see how that feels. 😄

We saw Koa’s final percussion concert tonight. He has been part of the percussion section and with the same percussion director since middle school, so this final concert was a big one.

It’s always a tear-filled speech from the director, who every year has to say goodbye to the seniors, so the evening was filled with a whole range of emotions: laughter at seeing the slideshow and photos, awe at listening to the amazing music, and sadness hearing the farewell speeches.

What a night!

We went to listen to Koa’s high school band perform this evening. It will be one of the last times listening to him in a concert setting since he will be graduating soon. I’ve enjoyed going to both my sons’ concerts for several years now, so I’m a bit sad that it is ending 😢, but time marches on.

Our son’s birthday is tomorrow so we decorated a bit today. I can’t believe both of our boys will be adults already! Time goes by so fast… it seems like just yesterday when I was taking them to elementary school. And now they are almost both on their own. 😢

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Koa perform at an indoor concert. In fact, I think right before the pandemic hit the States in 2020, we saw him perform at UT. But it was like nothing had changed, except all the kids seem taller! 😆

Tonight’s performance was by the TMEA Region 32 Wind Ensemble. They sound amazing, but what is really incredible is that they learned this song (and three others!) in one day. What talented kids!

Koa is in the back-left part of the stage and plays xylophone in this piece. He has a small solo at the 6:25 mark. Enjoy!
