Adjusted Streaming Configuration

I have adjusted my humble streaming setup a bit. I saw a fellow co-working streamer’s camera view, which is more of a top-down desk angle, and I really liked it so I put my Sigma ultra-wide angle lens on the Fujifilm X-E4 and tried to replicate it. I think I like this angle better.

I’ve also added a “critter-cam”, which is a second camera (my GoPro Hero9) which is dedicated to showing whatever pet happens to be around while I am streaming. 😁

I also changed my stream URL. Please come join me at my Twitch channel if you need a virtual co-worker, or just want to see Yuzu, Anko, or Lani.

Anko is a bit overweight, so we’ve been more diligent about making sure the other animals’ food dishes are out of her reach in case they didn’t finish their meals. She liked to just gobble up everything in sight. Our efforts have paid off! Her belly has gotten smaller and it’s easier for her to clean herself, which means less butt-scootching. Yay!

But as the photo shows, she still has a ways to go be as slim as her sister.

Our son’s birthday is tomorrow so we decorated a bit today. I can’t believe both of our boys will be adults already! Time goes by so fast… it seems like just yesterday when I was taking them to elementary school. And now they are almost both on their own. 😢

Motorbike Ride in Austin, Texas

“Austin from Congress Avenue” Austin, 2022

This morning I went with Kiki, my 2007 BMW F650 GS motorbike, on a ride to downtown Austin. I wanted to leave early to beat the traffic, but unfortunately got a late start at 9am. When we arrived downtown, there were so many cars. It’s no fun to be stuck in stop-and-go traffic on a motorcycle.

However, it was pretty cool to see so many people out and about having a good time. When I rode up Congress Avenue towards the capitol, I saw lots of tourists and it made me feel pretty good knowing they are visiting at the perfect time of year when the weather is not too hot. And of course us locals really enjoy it too!

I made a video of the ride, so if you have spare time, please watch 🙏 (at the end of this blog post)

Mariko and I have big plans for our gardening this year. Well, not so big, but we did plant several different things in the garden: rosemary, cilantro, parsley, peppers, fennel, and lots of basil. We’re hoping all of these are not attractive to the squirrels.

Let’s hope we have a good harvest all summer long. But of course, the Texas heat makes things challenging. Right now the weather is nice and there are no mosquitoes so it is really pleasant to work in the yard. In a month or so, being outside will be less attractive. Doing any gardening in the backyard will require long pants, long sleeves, or plenty of insect repellant! 🙁 Which kind of sucks when it’s 100°F / 38°C outside. 🥵
