“Serrano Peppers” Cedar Park, 2021

This year, we have several different plants growing in our garden and on the deck. My favorites are the peppers, and the first plant to bear fruit is our Serrano plant.

Our pepper plants don’t usually survive the winter and we end up planting a whole new bunch each spring but this year, we have a lot of returning plants: two Scotch Bonnets, Jalapeño, Habañero, mint, basil, Italian parsley, and the pictured Serrano. New this year are eggplant, another Jalapeño, cilantro, green onion, and Pequin peppers.

I’m hoping we have a good and continuous harvest throughout the summer! At least enough to provide some fire to our cooking. 😁

“Sailor Mars” Austin, 2021

It’s been over a year since our last “Idol Nite” so it was really awesome to get to visit my friend Mikey and watch music videos and a few episodes of the live-action Sailor Moon. Of course we also enjoyed beer, a nice selection of different saké, and lots of Japanese snacks. I can’t believe that this was our ninth time! Even though I hadn’t visited my friend for such a long time, once we started eating, drinking, and watching videos it felt like no time had passed since our last get-together.

The photo I took is of one of my favorite actresses, Kitagawa Keiko, who was Sailor Mars in the old series (2003-2004). I’m currently watching her star in the dorama “Rikokatsu”, which is hilarious. And she’s still beautiful!

Pizza Nite

“Kalua Pig Pizza” Cedar Park, 2021

The toppings for the first pie in tonight’s pizza class was kalua pig with jalapeño peppers and red onion. It was yummy, with just the right amount of oil from the pork. We haven’t had pizza in a few weeks so it was good to “pig” out on it. 🐷🍕❤

I hope you had a nice day!

39-Year Hiatus

“Afternoon Ride” Cedar Park, 2021

My early-70s Peugeot bicycle is back on the road! I had to replace several parts and tune it up a bit, but I rode several kilometers on the bicycle and it was a lot of fun!

I admit to being nervous at the start, not because of the age of the bicycle nor my skills as a mechanic, but the geometry of the Peugeot is so different than my Kona that the vintage bicycle felt very twitchy and delicate. The general riding position is more aggressive and the handlebars are very narrow so any small movements you make affect the bike greatly. However, after riding for a few kilometers I was used to the bike again and enjoyed that responsiveness.

I still have a fair amount of work to do on the bicycle restoration, but I’m happy that she is road-worthy!

I hope you had a great day!
