こんばんは。Ugh… Mondays! I woke up feeling not-so-great and decided to work from home, which was great because I could keep the room dark (easy on my eyes) and the temperature warm (the office is always so cold). And I got a ton of work done! By the end of the day, I was feeling a lot better, and I’ll get some good rest tonight and hopefully be 100% tomorrow. I’m planning on sleeping as soundly as the cat in the photo above. 🐱

This evening I finally finished the final two episodes of Tokyo Tarareba Musume (東京タラレバ娘). I was pretty disappointed with how the story went, or rather I should say that the story seemed to just go around in circles. People breaking up, getting back together, breaking up… over and over. It seemed like it would never end! I really enjoyed the first few episodes, but man, it went downhill in the last few episodes. 😞

In other dorama news, the new asadora Hiyokko (ひよっこ) is in its second or third week, and I just finished watching week 1. It seems like it will be pretty good! I like all the actors in it so far, and the setting of the story is really interesting: Tokyo in the 1960s. Actually, it is split (so far) between the Japanese countryside in Ibaraki prefecture and the capital, but that time period is really fun. I think the fashion of the time was pretty cool. We’ll see how the story progresses, but as you might know, asadoras last for half a year, so it’s a long haul. 😅

Okay, it’s now time to sleep. Have a good Tuesday. (I am planning on having a great one!)

Easter Feast

こんばんは。Today is Easter Sunday 🐰, and this is maybe the first time we didn’t do any kind of traditional Easter activities. The past couple years, we have just given the kids chocolate bunnies and Easter baskets, but this year we didn’t really think about it at all. As a non-religious family, the holiday doesn’t have any meaning to us in the traditional sense, but we did have some friends over to enjoy good food and conversation. 😄

Of course, I ate too much… but it was so delicious, I couldn’t help myself. Fun times!

Watch Update

こんばんは。How’s it going?

The other day, I received a new 22mm zulu-style strap for my Seiko SKX007 watch. It’s the black, green, and red striped design, the same one that I have for my Seiko SNK809 (18mm). I really like the Artstyle straps because they have nice brushed metal hardware, and a good price. As you can see from the photo below, I have purchased a small collection of them!

However, they are not perfect. I guess they had to cut corners somewhere to get the price so low, and thus the finishing of the nylon and stitching is a little rough. I noticed that it gets a little scratchy sometimes. To fix this, I used a grinding stone (used in ceramics) to smooth out some of the rough cuts, which appear to have been heat-sealed. Basically around all the holes I sanded it down a bit. The nylon stitching also had a some bits which stuck out and would poke my wrist, but the polishing stone took care of that easily as well. You can see in the photo below where I sanded around the holes, buckle, and stitching.

After that small amount of work, the bands are very comfortable and just about perfect. 🙂

I hope you had a nice day!

こんばんは。

This evening my 13-year-old had some friends over for his birthday party. It was a pretty easy (and inexpensive) party, as these things go. He just wanted to go out to dinner, and then have a sleepover. And for dinner, he requested Chipotle! We suggested other restaurants, but he loves Chipotle, and I think his friends enjoyed it as well. Then back at our house, we had an ice cream cake, and tomorrow I’ll be buying them donuts of their choosing.

The kids are having a great time just hanging out. And another great thing about this year’s party is that it only cost about $85!
