Cold Weather Running

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes”. That’s a Norwegian phrase that was going through my head as I suffered yesterday on my run. So today, I added another layer on top and put on my baggy tights on the bottom. What a difference it made! I was warm and the run was a lot of fun! I’ve always disliked running in cold weather, but with the right clothes, it can be very pleasant.

Curbside

I enjoy our local HEB’s curbside service very much. Sometimes one of the items I order is out of stock, though, and they offer a substitute (which you can reject if you want). This particular order, I lucked out because the pint-size Egg Nog Ice Cream was out of stock, so they substituted it with the half-gallon size. For the price of the pint. Woohoo!

I hope you had a nice day! 😀🍨

Late-Afternoon Ride

I went with Piplup for a ride this afternoon before it got too dark (the sun sets so early these days!). We rode on a bunch of light gravel and Piplup’s tiny 16″ wheels and tires did fine.

In other good news, the Brooks B17 saddle is starting to get more comfortable. It can take a while for the leather to shape itself to your sit-bones, and it seems like it’s finally starting to happen. 😀

PIVRING Backpack for the Brompton

I mentioned in a previous post that I picked up a PIVRING backpack from IKEA. It was only $4! The reason I bought it is because it’s the perfect size for putting on the M style handlebars on my Brompton folding bike. I am using it to pick up the mail from our mailbox. The mailbox is a few hundred meters from our house so it’s a quick, but fun little ride.

One thing I noticed about the Brompton is that it is much easier to handle while off the bike as compared to regular bicycles. Maneuvering it out the front door is easy because the small front wheel tends not to sway side-to-side like larger wheels. And the step-through frame makes it easy to stand over it while I put the mail into the bag. It’s really convenient!
