Mariko gave me her late father’s old watch – an Aureole solar-powered model with a metal band. It keeps almost perfect time, but the band was a bit too tight for my wrist, so I swapped it out for the original canvas strap from my Seiko SNK809. The match isn’t perfect, but it works, and now I can enjoy wearing the Aureole. It’s not the kind of watch I would have chosen for myself, but there’s something special about wearing my kids’ grandfather’s old watch.
Mariko is making stollen again this year! A friend came over for a few days to help, and I think they’re making around 75 this time. It’s a massive effort, but everyone loves how delicious they turn out!
A few weeks ago, I picked up a new riding jacket. My old one, which I used for cold weather, was literally falling apart — the reflective striping had disintegrated. I took that as my cue to upgrade. Luckily, I found a great Revit! jacket on sale at CycleGear, and it fits perfectly! Bonus: it has seven pockets.
I really like the color of the jacket, but it doesn’t quite match my tinted visor. I’m considering switching to a silver or maybe a gold visor. Silver might be the better choice, though. Hmmm… decisions, decisions!
