“Cool Label” Cedar Park, 2019
I really like this saké bottle label!

Here’s the latest sketch I made on my iPad. I looked at a reference photo to help with the pose, and it evolved into the style that I usually work in. I had fun using some new brushes, and I like the effect which you can see in the ends of her hair and outline of her shirt.
To see all the sketches I’ve been working on, you can check out the Flickr album “My Sketching Journey”, or my Instagram account barron.sketches which I created just for posting sketches, watercolors, and stationery items.
If you’re interested in my favorite sketching gear that I use, you can find a list here.
I hope you had a nice day!

Our family’s mosquito defenses consist of an ultraviolet fan-trap, an annual yard spray, mini-fumigation spray, and old-school mosquito coil incense. For the incense, we have this cool ceramic pig. 🐷 I love the smell of the incense! It smells like a Japanese summer. 😄🎐
When I am working in the garage, I’ll bring the pig with me and let it clear the area of mosquitos. I think it does a great job in there, and I haven’t been bitten in the garage when I use the pig. However, on the backyard deck, I still get bitten. I guess it has to do with the more open area. Oh well, our mosquito bite remedy, Zap-it!, took care of the itchiness.
I hope you had a nice day!

Tonight was the Spring Concert, and Koa performed in two pieces. He didn’t play marimba this time, but was on the electric piano for one song and then cymbals for the other. It was a nice concert, but I prefer the ones where he plays marimba or timpani.
The school year is almost over, and it has been a successful one for Koa. He still loves band, and he’s doing great! Very proud. 😄
Tonight I replaced the strings that came with my Kala Pineapple Ukulele with some Aquila New Nylgut strings. The original strings were supposedly the “Super Nylgut”, but who knows? So I decided to go ahead and try the other strings. They sound great, but I honestly don’t know if they make that much of a difference. They do seem a little firmer, louder, but squeaky. I think the squeak will go away after they pick up some oils from my fingers, but I do like the overall sound. And knowing that they are, in fact, Aquila strings make me feel good too.
I hope you had a good day!
