こんばんは。How’s it going?

Today, Bay and I visited the traveling Baseball Hall of Fame exhibit which is in Round Rock, just 20 minutes from our house. The displays were way better than I was expecting. We got to see Babe Ruth’s last home run baseball, Roger Maris’ bat that hit the home run to break Babe Ruth’s single-season record, Harry Caray’s famous glasses, and much more! I was pretty blown away at the history that was able to be displayed.

In addition to those items, there were VR activities, like experiencing the 2016 World Series at the ballparks in Chicago and Cleveland, and riding along in the victory parade. It was really cool.

And a little bit more fun was that I made my own silly Hall of Fame plaque, which you can see below. 😆

I highly recommend a visit to the traveling Hall of Fame if you get the chance.

Broken Coffee Filter Holder

For a while now, our ceramic coffee filter holder has had a crack in its base, but I thought it was just a surface crack, and not something that would affect its strength. But the other day, it just gave up and broke. 😞

Well, we haven’t gotten a new one, and I’m debating on whether or not to attempt a fix on this filter holder, so in the meantime, I’ve been using a pair of chopsticks to aid in the coffee duties every morning. It’s working out well! I have time to ponder a permanent solution. A fun challenge, actually! 😄

こんばんは。How’s it going?

This afternoon at work, we had cupcakes brought in. But not just any ordinary cupcakes, but an actual cupcake bar! There were three cakes to choose from (chocolate, vanilla, or red velvet), two types of filling (chocolate or vanilla), and three types of icing (chocolate, vanilla buttercream, or strawberry). In addition, there was a big assortment of toppings, and even an edible glitter-spray. So fancy! What a nice treat for a Thursday afternoon. 🙂 I went back for seconds. 😆

ひよっこ Opening

One thing I love about the new asadora ひよっこ is the opening sequence. Along with the ’60s-style pop song, there are really cool miniature toys and scenery with the feeling of the era. But the really neat thing is, the scenery is made up of everyday objects from the ’60s. For instance, the people watching the Olympic torch sit on typewriters instead of bleachers, there is a person fishing over a waterfall that is actually a washing machine, and so on. When I first saw the opening, I thought that it reminded me of one of my favorite Instagrammers, Tanaka Tatsuya… I wondered, did NHK get the idea from him? Well, according to his Instagram page, Tanaka is the creator of the opening sequence! How cool is that?!

Anyways, be sure to check out his Instagram and Miniature Calendar site. The scenes are so clever and fun.

Lights Out

こんばんは。

Today’s photo is of a light bulb that I took to the hardware store so I could find the correct size replacement. We have a string of lights in our living room, but over half of the bulbs have burnt out. 😞

It turns out that replacement bulbs of the same size are almost impossible to find… I searched in the store and online but was unsuccessful in locating one. But I think even if I find the right bulb, it would be cheaper to just buy a whole new string of lights than 8 replacement bulbs! Just like how it is cheaper to buy a new inkjet printer than it is to buy a set of replacement ink. (I’m not sure if that is true anymore, actually)

Oh well.

Ugh Monday

こんばんは。Ugh… Mondays! I woke up feeling not-so-great and decided to work from home, which was great because I could keep the room dark (easy on my eyes) and the temperature warm (the office is always so cold). And I got a ton of work done! By the end of the day, I was feeling a lot better, and I’ll get some good rest tonight and hopefully be 100% tomorrow. I’m planning on sleeping as soundly as the cat in the photo above. 🐱

This evening I finally finished the final two episodes of Tokyo Tarareba Musume (東京タラレバ娘). I was pretty disappointed with how the story went, or rather I should say that the story seemed to just go around in circles. People breaking up, getting back together, breaking up… over and over. It seemed like it would never end! I really enjoyed the first few episodes, but man, it went downhill in the last few episodes. 😞

In other dorama news, the new asadora Hiyokko (ひよっこ) is in its second or third week, and I just finished watching week 1. It seems like it will be pretty good! I like all the actors in it so far, and the setting of the story is really interesting: Tokyo in the 1960s. Actually, it is split (so far) between the Japanese countryside in Ibaraki prefecture and the capital, but that time period is really fun. I think the fashion of the time was pretty cool. We’ll see how the story progresses, but as you might know, asadoras last for half a year, so it’s a long haul. 😅

Okay, it’s now time to sleep. Have a good Tuesday. (I am planning on having a great one!)
