Percussion Concert
“Watching Again” Cedar Park, 2017
こんばんは。How’s it going?
Tonight the percussion section of Koa’s school band performed a concert, and Koa had a solo. He did great! I was so nervous for him, but it was an awesome performance and everyone enjoyed it. Koa said he made a bunch of mistakes, but I thought it was amazing. All his friends cheered him on which was so great. Please watch/listen to the song below:

Firefly / ホタル
こんばんは。How’s it going?
The other evening I took Bay to his piano lessons, and while we were waiting in the car outside the studio, we saw a ton of fireflies, lighting up the neighborhood yards along the street. It was amazing to me. I grew up in an area that did not have any fireflies, so when I see them here in Texas, it’s always a “wow” moment.
Isn’t it strange that these insects can glow like that? And it is such a nice soft glow that pulses on and off. We’re getting used to the harsh instant-on of LED lights that it is surprising and soothing to see that gradual illumination of fireflies. It’s beautiful. The natural world is like a miracle sometimes.

Store Opening
“Opening Party” Cedar Park, 2017
こんばんは。How’s it going? Did you have a nice Sunday?
Today we visited the site of a new Whole Foods 360 Market opening near our house. While the store actually opens in a few days, today there was a ribbon cutting, food trucks, giveaways, and other activities in the parking lot.
There were a lot of people, but it wasn’t overly crowded… I’d say it was just right. What made it really great was the fact that they had free beer! 🍻 Each person got two drink tickets which was plenty, especially since it was early afternoon. We enjoyed other freebies such as veggie burgers, gourmet pretzels, spicy sausage, chocolate, hummus, and a bunch of energy bars. We got pretty full…
And, we had fun taking pics in the cool photobus photobooth! A great way to spend the afternoon. 😄

The city we live in, Cedar Park, is a really nice place with some great shopping. Now we have Whole Foods 360, Costco, and In-n-Out, among other places. Really convenient. I’m so glad we decided to raise our family here.
