Too Many Storms

We’ve lived in central Texas for over 20 years now, and we’ve never seen so many tornado warnings. Or perhaps we’ve had plenty of warnings, but this year there have been several actual tornadoes touching the ground near us. It’s pretty scary.

This afternoon, the tornadoes touched down about 40 miles to the north of us in Salado, and a few weeks before that, a tornado touched down about 10 miles away in Round Rock. That’s so close!

Today’s photo is of one of the massive clouds that might have been the one that spawned the tornado up north. Luckily it passed us by without incident.

Here’s a short video of some of the activity that from our backyard window:

Stay safe, everyone!

Sunset Ride with Rossa

It’s been a while since I have biked to my regular sunset spot. This evening, I went for a ride with Rossa around the neighborhood and by chance, the sun was setting just as I was passing the sunset spot.

I wasn’t planning on taking photos, so I left my Fujifilm X-E4 at home and only had my iPhone 12 Mini with me. I think the photo turned out pretty good! I took many photos using both the iPhone’s camera software and the RAW camera app, but the iPhone’s built-in processing handled the sunset scene better than my Lightroom skills did with the RAW file. I’m happy with it!

Anyways, it was fun to get out on the Bianchi bicycle again and just cruise around the neighborhood and seeing the sights and saying hello to neighbors.

Wild Weather

This evening Central Texas was under a Tornado Watch, which became a Tornado Warning. Indeed, several tornadoes touched down, the nearest several miles away. We were fortunate this time as we only experienced heavy rains, but I feel badly for those whose homes were damaged or destroyed. At least there was no loss of life…

This morning a nice sunrise was casting a soft light over Sophie, and then in the evening, the sun gave the sky a colorful glow as it moved towards Asia.
