We had a few people over for a birthday dinner this evening. We made some grapefruit chu-hais, with grapefruit juice, shochu, and sparkling water. Yummy! And it was fun to juice the grapefruits using the wooden citrus reamer.

Water on the Trail
I went for a ride on the local hike & bike trail, but had to turn back just a little ways in because last night’s heavy rains had caused a bit of flooding. I started riding in the water, but decided it wasn’t a good idea and turned back. Oh well. It was actually kind of fun!

Splatoon 3 Splatfest

I enjoyed the Splatoon 3 pre-release splatfest event today. I tried out a couple of new weapons and checked out the new stages. Very cool! And I love the new squidling and octoling characters. They look awesome! I can’t wait for the game to be released next month. I am still going to try to master the splat-roller, which is super-fun.
Bringing Home Food from Vacation

I never used to bring home food from vacation, except for maybe omiyage (gifts) for others. However, Mariko always does lots of shopping for local foods, and bring them home to enjoy and now I am starting to really appreciate that.
So, packing light in order to have more space in the luggage for goodies is a thing for me. On the latest trip, I brought back several cans of local beer. And let me tell you, the extra effort in bringing it home made it made it much tastier!
