My cousin sent over his hot sauce recipe and my mom used her Scotch Bonnet harvest to make a few bottles of fire. Super tasty and a good amount of heat.
I was bummed that we couldn’t take a bottle home with us (we only had carry-ons for our plane trip) but I’m looking forward to using the recipe to make my own batch! 🌶
It’s a short weekend trip to SoCal, but with no plans besides taking Koa to his auditions, I had time to head to my favorite store, UNIQLO. This particular location in South Coast Plaza is one I haven’t been to before, so I was excited to visit it. And I was able to convince my brother and sister-in-law to join me. Bonus! 😀
I ended up getting three v-neck t-shirts which will replace some old v-necks that are showing their age. What’s nice about the UNIQLO t-shirts is that they are a thinner fabric than my Old Navy shirts, so I’ll have more space in the shirt drawer. In fact, I am replacing six t-shirts with the three UNIQLO shirts. It feels good to upgrade and declutter at the same time!
The airplane we are flying on is sporting a San Francisco Giants logo, which is weird since we are traveling from Austin to Los Angeles. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re refused landing by the control tower at LAX!

2022 is year of the tiger, so Mariko baked some tiger bread. The outside looks like the common orange color, but the inside is like a white tiger. It’s very cool, isn’t it? 🐯

My new pair of On Cloud running shoes arrived. I usually wait for the 20-30% members-only sale at REI to buy my next pair, so when it comes time to switch over, I have shoes ready. The “experts” say that you should replace your running shoes after 400-500 miles or so, and that would mean every couple of years for me. But this past year I have been running much more, and only after 5 months, I have run 550 miles! It seems like I am just breaking in my new shoes!
Anyways, in the photo above are my brand new On Cloud running shoes (4th pair) which I will switch over to when I feel like my current shoes are ready to be retired to everyday casual use. The other pair of shoes in the photo are my original On Cloud running shoes from 2014 which I have been using as gardening/yard work/garage shoes. I will use my 2nd pair of On Clouds for that use. So it’s time to say goodbye to the old grey and orange shoes. Thank you for all the miles (and lawns mowed)!
