We visited with our friends tonight and they prepared an amazing meal. The first course was a dish called bacalhau, which is a dish made with dried cod, potato, and other spices. There are many variations, but our hosts described the one we had as coming from Spain. It was delicious! I definitely want to eat more!
Bye bye to my old motorcycle boots after 15 years of loyal service. Wow. These Gaerne Panorama boots were unbelievably comfortable and took me on countless rides, but time finally caught up with them. The rubber soles are no longer grippy, and the shift pedal pad actually disintegrated a few years ago.
The good news is I now have a brand new pair of boots (made by Gaerne), and they are fantastic so far. Here is hoping these new ones can rack up another 15 years of adventures.
Bay, Mariko, and I all pitched in to make a yummy chicken tikka masala tonight. My job was cutting the onions, so I definitely had the easiest part of the whole process!
Today a friend and I took a trip up to Waco to check out the motorcycles at Barger’s All Sports. There were so many cool machines, but one tiny bike completely stole the show. The CF Moto Papio looked like something straight out of Mario Kart. I could not stop thinking about how fun it would be to race around on those little bikes.
After that, we headed over to Health Camp for burgers. I ordered the Double Health Burger and wow, it was incredible. It easily landed a spot in my top ten burgers of all time.
From there we stopped by Ride Now Powersports in Georgetown for a little more browsing before heading back home. The weather was sunny and warm, so I took my beloved motorcycle out for a ride to Sunset Deck. The view out there is always beautiful, and the stretch of gravel road on the way makes the ride even more fun.
As I get ready to start my very first Hobonichi Techo, I asked Mariko if she happened to have any stamps I could borrow. I was hoping to find an airplane stamp to use next to my travel plans. She casually told me she had a bunch of stamps, plus washi tape, highlighters, and a whole pile of other journaling goodies. Wow, she was not kidding. I hit the stationery jackpot!
I added a new gadget to my streaming setup this week, a Stream Deck Neo. It had been sitting on my wishlist for a while, but it did not go on sale for Black Friday. When I checked again on Cyber Monday, the price had dropped, so I jumped on it right away.
Before buying the hardware, I had been testing Stream Deck Mobile on my iPhone and setting up all my streaming commands there. That gave me a good feel for how the system works and made the decision to buy the physical device much easier. If you are not familiar with it, a Stream Deck lets you trigger commands and actions with the press of a button instead of digging through apps and menus on your computer.
This is especially helpful for me because I stream on my MacBook Air. Whenever I switch between apps while OBS is running, it can cause lag and choppiness in the stream. With the Stream Deck, I can control Spotify, adjust volume, mute my mic, send chat messages, and toggle OBS overlays without ever touching those other apps. It is incredibly handy and, honestly, pretty fun to use.
I am wrapping up the last batch of chili, and it looks like the rest of the family has officially hit their limit. That works out perfectly for me because I could happily eat chili every single day. I will have one final portion waiting for me tomorrow, and I am already looking forward to it. Leftover chili might be the best kind of chili. Yum!
