Today’s photo is of some cars parked outside my office. It’s interesting that looking at them from a new perspective, you can really notice the huge differences in the sizes of the vehicles. There are three SUVs parked adjacent to each other, but one of them is gigantic, isn’t it? 😲

This evening we had a few friends over for “Sailor Moon Nite”, which is a variation of our “Kaiju Nite” get-togethers. But instead of watching Japanese monster movies, we watched several episodes of the Sailor Moon anime and live-action tv show.

As usual, the evening started off with a potluck-style dinner and checking out the toys. Mikey always has a great selection of toys and tonight he even brought some Sailor Moon manga. And glow sticks! 😝

After pigging out on Char-siu-style chicken, salmon poké, three kinds of salad, and shrimp cocktail, it was time to move to the TV room and go over the notes for the evening. Mikey always prepares some vital background info to the shows we will be watching, and also the lyrics to the theme songs so we can all sing along. It’s pretty fun!

The first show we watched was episode 1 of the anime. Most of us were Sailor Moon newbies so it was great to see the very beginning of the saga. After that, we switched over to the live-action version of the first episode, which was a lot of fun! And of course, the highlight for me was watching my favorite actress Kitagawa Keiko as Sailor Mars. She was so cute!
We watched a total of seven episodes this evening while drinking beer, saké, wine, and corn whiskey. And I almost forgot to mention, we made chocolate parfaits as well, in honor of the characters Naru and Nephrite, who were planning to eat parfaits together. Unfortunately, Nephrite dies in Naru’s arms, and they never got to eat their chocolate parfait. 🍨
It was such a fun viewing party, I can’t wait for a second Sailor Moon nite!
おやすみ!

Tonight we celebrated Setsubun by eating our traditional Ehōmaki, or “lucky direction sushi”. You are supposed to eat the whole uncut maki sushi in silence, while facing the lucky direction, which happens to be south-southeast this year.
Of course, we have extra sushi, so that gets sliced into pieces which we can enjoy after we finish our rolls. Yum!

I was looking forward to eating Ehōmaki all day long, and it didn’t disappoint. 😀

Today, just a photo. Honestly, this is one of those late-night “what am I going to take a photo of?” snaps. But we do have a bunch of (I think) cool things around the house. 😀 Like a squirrel washi tape dispenser. 🐿️
And today is my father’s birthday. 80 years young! 🎂🎉 Happy Birthday, Dad!
Today I met a friend at a burger place for lunch. I don’t go out too often, or eat lunch at all, so it was really nice to get out of the office! Plus catching up with a buddy over burgers and $1 beers is fun. Thursdays at Hat Creek are when draft beer is only a buck, so it got pretty crowded at lunch. Luckily my friend and I beat the rush by arriving a little early (11:30am) so there was no waiting. Yay! And the burger was pretty good, and the fries were excellent. I’ll be going back for sure!

Today’s photo is of a fresh apple sitting in our kitchen. 🍎 I thought the color looked really nice, especially seeing it next to the wooden breadbox.
It seems that I don’t eat much fruit these days, but actually, I will have a banana, kiwi fruit, or tangerine while in the office. It’s so nice that my workplace provides fresh fruit for us! I really should take advantage of it more often. But pizza…
