こんばんは! Hello, how’s it going?

Today’s weather was strange… it got down into the chilly 60s in the day, but then this evening, dropped into the 50s. Crazy! It was too bad, but there was enough rain for Koa’s baseball game was canceled. ☔

It was a big day at work because the entire Austin team was together in the new office building. As you can imagine, everyone who moved in today was busy unpacking boxes, getting their computers set up, and just getting oriented. It was a lot of fun, but we also had a lot of work to do. It’s a pretty great space, with open views, plenty of coffee machines (yay! ☕), and a nearby lunch café. And as a bonus, it’s a shorter commute for me! 🚙 I am very happy with the office, and I’m glad I got to contribute by coordinating the artwork for the new space. It helped that we had and awesome visual/interior artist! 🎨

I hope you had a nice Monday!

こんばんは! How’s it going?

Today was a super-relaxing day. Although in the morning I tried (unsuccessfully) to fix our refrigerator water line, the rest of the day was very nice. Even the DIY part was fun!

So, what did I do today? Well, I finished reading “Kiki Strike: Inside the Shadow City” which is the first in a series of fun YA books. I have the second book and I’ve already started reading it. Most of the day was spent with music playing on the stereo, reading, and playing with the dog and cats. It was a great day!

The cats are pretty funny. As I mentioned before, they are sisters and play a lot together. But they do have distinct personalities. For instance, the calico has taken a motherly role, while the black and white cat is the naughty one. She likes to climb on top of the aquarium and knock off the toys we have up there. But they are also a lot alike, and they are both active at the same time, and they also get tired at the same time and fall asleep together. It’s really cute!

But I can’t really write much about it, except to say that this was an art project for our new office space… more on this later. I am so tired! No A-Z challenge post today. Will finish Y and Z this weekend!

But it was a fantastic day!

こんばんは! Hello, how’s it going?

Today was a good day. At work, we are close to moving into our new office building and the final preparations are being made with the artwork that is going on the walls. Today we did a walkthrough to look at it and the art looks great! I am so pleased that it is coming together! Tomorrow we have our grand opening party for the Austin-based employees, so we’ll see if everyone likes it as much as I do. 😅 Fingers are crossed, but I am confident that everyone will be delighted.

This evening we attended my son’s Percussion Concert, which was a combination of percussionists from the High School, and the two Middle Schools that feed into it. Koa is in the 6th grade band, and his group performed one number. They did great! In the photo above, you can see some of the High School percussionists performing. I was amazed at some of the xylophone solos. They were unbelievable!

Anyways, it was a long day, but a very good one. Tomorrow is going to be another long one… I need some sleep!

こんばんは! Hello, how are you?

Today’s photo is of my son, Bay, showing me how emojis are shown on different devices and their OS’s. It’s interesting that there can be so many different styles. In my work, I sometimes have to create icons and symbols, so looking at all the different emoji sets is interesting professionally. I can imagine the designers working through each icon… it’s a lot of work, but fun! FYI, both Bay and I agreed that the Google version of the emojis was our favorite.

In other news, we are preparing to move offices this week by packing up our things. This weekend, the moving company will move all the boxes to the new building and we’ll start there on Monday. It’s very exciting! For the past 10+ years I have been going to work at the same location so this will be a huge change! The photo below is of the cube that is opposite where I sit. It’s been empty for a few months because my colleague found another job at a different company. But, as people clean up their things, the cubes are all going to look like this one.

こんばんは! Hello!

How was your Tuesday? Mine was pretty good. And the weather is nice and warm, which I like. Tonight there is a chance for a storm but tomorrow should be beautiful again. It’s good to get some rain though. ☔

Tonight’s photo is of our Gyu-don (beef on rice in a bowl) dinner. Mariko asked for a dinner idea, and I of course said Oyako-don (my favorite; chicken and egg over rice), but she said we don’t have chicken. So next I asked for Katsu-don (pork cutlet over rice) but we don’t have pork, so then I asked for Gyu-don… and she said yes!

Anyways, it was delicious as you can imagine.

おやすみなさい! Take care!
