We made okonomiyaki tonight, which was awesome! It’s my absolute favorite food, and tonight’s was a little different because instead of yakisoba noodles, Mariko used whole wheat spaghetti. She added a little baking powder to the boiling water, which made the texture of the noodles pretty close to yakisoba. We’ll definitely be doing this again if we don’t happen to have yakisoba handy!

FYI, we’ve been using this Tiger electric hot plate for years now, and it’s been great. It’s got three different cooking surfaces: a pan, a grill, and takoyaki pan. And it’s very easy to clean since it comes apart easily. Another cool thing is that it has a carrying handle which makes it easy to move around. We’ve taken it over to friends’ houses to use several time. I highly recommend the Tiger electric hot plate or something similar.
