Taking Vitamins

When I was growing up, my parents had us take vitamins every morning, and it wasn’t just a single multi-vitamin pill. It was multiple pills of individual vitamins, plus other supplements, like garlic or fish oil. Because of this, I became pretty good at swallowing several pills at once. I think my record is maybe seven at one go. Come to think of it now, that’s maybe too many vitamins?

Nowadays, my own kids also take daily vitamins, but their pill-swallowing procedure is not as efficient yet as mine is. And the technique is different as well.

When I take pills, I retract my tongue to the back of my mouth and drop the pills into the space behind my lower teeth, but in front my tongue. Then I take a swig of water and use my tongue to scoop the pills and water to the back of my mouth and swallow. It’s fast and only takes one gulp of water to swallow all the pills.

The rest of the family prefers to take a bit of water first, then drop a pill into their mouths, and swallow. But, they have to repeat this for every pill. I told them my technique, which I believe is superior, and they think I am crazy. 😄

I wonder which technique is the most common… 🤷‍♂️

Dreaming of Falling

When I was younger, I used to have a recurring dream in which I would fall from a great height. This was usually preceded by a seemingly safe climb which quickly turned into a harrowing cliff-hanger. I could have been on a ladder, or a playscape, or on a mountain path.

Anyways, I’d find myself hanging on for dear life, dangling over the precipice, then I’d lose my grip and fall. My stomach would rise to my throat, just like what happens when riding a rollercoaster. But the strange thing was, I would always hit the ground, then get up, unhurt, and be on my way.

This dream happened so often that I soon got used to the falling and didn’t fear dying anymore. I knew I would “land” safely in a second or two. However, I still have the fear of getting that rollercoaster feeling.

And my brother also had similar dreams. Strange?

Nervous about Live TV

One thing that I get extremely nervous about is live performances on tv. For instance, I hate watching the Oscars because the speeches make me super nervous. Also, live musical performances fill me with anxiety, for instance, the halftime show at the Super Bowl. And the Presidential debates? Uh-uh. I’ll read about it the next day, thank you very much.

I paused briefly in the parking lot to take this photo of a cloud directly overhead. One quick snap and then to the car to escape the Texas summer heat. Clouds are amazing, though, aren’t they? ☁️

A-Z Challenge – Z

Z stands for “Zero”

No, not the number, but for something altogether different. Zero was the name of our family dog when we were kids. I’m not sure why my parents name her Zero, but that name was actually quite popular with my friends! She was a small dog, a silky terrier, and we used to call her “Z” for short. She had a small crate in the breakfast room where she would sleep at night, and we called it her “basket”. When it was time for her to go to bed, we’d just need to say “basket!” and she would head to her little crate for the evening.

It was kind of fun when A Nightmare Before Christmas came out, because the little ghost dog in that movie was also named Zero.

Zero

I need to ask my parents how they chose to name our dog Zero…

Well, this is the final day of the A-Z Challenge. It was a lot of fun, and kept my brain thinking! I enjoyed it a lot. It also taught me a bit about my limits and how much I am able to post. Obviously, I am no great writer, but blogging is so much fun! I can’t imagine not doing it.
