One of our good friends is moving back to Japan after a few years of living and working in Austin. We all prepared different kinds of food that she has enjoyed here in Texas, including tacos, Round Rock Donuts, and Mexican breads. I made a bunch of sliders since she has eaten our homemade burgers a few times at our house. We’ll miss her, but look forward to meeting in Japan in the future!

My mom prepared her annual Jamaican feast for us tonight. We had jerk pork and chicken, escovich fish, stew peas, plantain, oxtail, rice and peas, callaloo, and run-down crab. It was amazing! The crab tasted great, but the curry smell will stay on my fingers for days. It’s worth it, though!

Today we met some friends for a sushi lunch at Takao. Mariko and I have been here a few times for our anniversary dinner, but this was the first time visiting in the daytime. It was yummy as always. Definitely recommend!

“CoCo Curry” Torrance, 2022

When we visit our family in Torrance, we always get CoCo Curry, and I order mine with the spiciness level at 10. This year, the 10 was the least spicy it has ever been. I didn’t even break a sweat. Mildly disappointed… but it still tasted yummy. And it’s nice to be in California starting our vacation!
