Back in the Stands

Tonight my brother took me to go see our beloved World Champion (I love that!) Los Angeles Dodgers play against the Colorado Rockies. Dodger Stadium is open to limited capacity, with socially-distanced seating and masks being required. I was happy to see that the mask policy was strictly enforced, with stadium staff on the lookout for people who weren’t wearing masks, and them put them on. Our “pod” of two seats was distanced from other pods, and the transactions for food and drinks are all contactless. All-in-all, it was about as safe as going to the supermarket.

The game itself was amazing (if you are a Dodger fan), with the lead changing a few times, a couple of home runs from the Dodgers, and the home team coming out on top. What an awesome night!

These photos were taken at my brother’s garden. Before moving to Texas, I never really thought about the amazing variety of plants that can thrive because of the mild California weather.

Going Through Old Things

I was going through a lot of my old things at my parents’ house to see what to throw out (most things) and what I wanted to keep. Besides a bunch of books and photos, I have a small box of fun memories I’ll take back to Texas with me. The most interesting items are some love letters from my high school days, many of which I have no recollection of, so these carried a strange thrill with them when I read them today. 😂

It was so fun reading them, but it was also nice and satisfying to put them in the recycling bin.

Running by My Old School

After work, I put on my running shoes and headed out for a jog in the neighborhood. It was fun to run by my old elementary school and see that not much has changed. However, the trees in the park next to the school looked a lot taller, and the man-made hills which used to look tall when I was a kid seemed tiny. It was a weird feeling to be at a very nostalgic place during this pandemic time. I guess it’s just a mix of emotions.

It was comforting to see the small things that haven’t changed, like the spiky things (in the photo above) that still fall from the trees to keep skateboarders on their toes.

Curry Take-Out

“CoCo Take-Out” Torrance, 2021

I made it to my parents’ house, where I will stay a week. I’m not technically on vacation since I will be working, but I’m so happy to be here! My parents and I are fully vaccinated so it’s pretty safe to visit according the the CDC guidelines.

After arriving in Torrance and having a beer, we ordered take-out from CoCo Ichibanya and feasted! I had my level-10 curry of course. It was very spicy, but not as spicy as previous visits. Still, very, very good. I’m satisfied. 😊🍛❤
