“Lilo & Stitch & Nani & Mulan” Cedar Park, 2023

Today I rewatched Lilo & Stitch. I hadn’t seen our kids were small, but I didn’t realize how great a movie it is. I found is way more emotionally moving that I remembered. And I also paid close attention to the colors in the backgrounds. So beautiful! I am going to use them as references for the painting I am working on. I know it’ll be hard to recreate them, but it’s nice to have something to shoot for.

Oh, and before I forget, I really liked the Mulan poster in Nani’s room! (Lilo & Stitch was made by the same team that made Mulan)

Co-Working Stream Updates

“New Mic” Cedar Park, 2023

I’ve made a few updates to my daily co-working stream at https://www.twitch.tv/hello_its_barron.

The biggest change is the switch from Twitch Studio to OBS Studio. When I first started live-streaming last year, I tried OBS and I liked it, but there was a deal-breaker for me: the program required the installation of a third-party audio driver in order to stream the computer audio, and that disabled the use of my volume controls via the keyboard. But I recently looked into the matter again, and the current version of OBS Studio can now output computer audio natively!

OBS Studio’s stream quality is so much better than Twitch Studio, at least on my Macbook Air. I can now stream at 720p 60fps which was unthinkable with Twitch Studio. Yay!

Another update to the stream is that I have a task list that any of my viewers can use. It’s quite nice! I hope people will find it helpful.

And lastly, I bought a Blue Yeti microphone to replace my cheap desktop mic. I think the quality is much better! The Yeti normally costs about US $120, but the silver color was on sale for well below US $100.

If you’d like to co-work (virtually) with me, I normally stream every weekday morning from about 8am – noon CT. See you there!

New Paintings

“Paintings” Cedar Park, 2023

Mariko framed three paintings that our friend Yellow created, then our son’s girlfriend, who is studying interior design, recommended a good spot for them, and then I hung them.

I think they look pretty good there, although they are not completely level in the photo. :)
