“Squirrel Coaster” Cedar Park, 2022
Is it a critter getting squashed, or a flying squirrel delivering a morning beverage?
daily slice-of-life photo blog of a Gen-X dad

We’ve recently been hearing noises coming from our attic very early in the morning. It sounded like something was scratching on the other side of our ceiling. When I went outside the house to look for any holes, I found a large one in the eaves under our roof overhang, so I called a pest control company to help. They sealed up the hole, and set up a couple of traps in our attic. As you can see from the photo, there was a raccoon using our attic as a place to sleep. In fact, this was the second raccoon that was caught! They were both so cute, but kind of smelly. 😀
Besides sealing up the hole that the raccoons made, the pest control company also added screens around other gaps in our roof vents. Hopefully we won’t hear any more critters in the attic. 🦝

This morning we woke up early to go fishing at the Guadalupe River. We only caught one small bass, but it was still fun! After that, we enjoyed some breakfast sandwiches back at the campsite before heading home. It was a really nice overnight camp trip. I can’t wait to do it again.

In the evening, Mariko and I went to see the Ventana Ballet perform “Undead: Haunted House of Dances” at Spider House. One of Mariko’s students is a dancer in the group, so we got to see her dance. It was a great show!

After that we got some noodles next door at Sip Pho before heading home. A long day… 😴
