Today we ordered a bunch of Malaysian food from Penang Shack which on the east side of Austin. Since we live far north in Cedar Park, it took about 25 minutes to drive there, but it was definitely worth it because the food was delicious!

I don’t get out much, so it was actually nice to have a longish drive. If you’d like to see what it was like, I recorded the trip with my GoPro. Please have a watch:

I love when the skies have plenty of interesting clouds, and it looked pretty bleak all day, but as the afternoon was turning into evening, the clouds starting breaking up revealing a bit of sunlight. So I grabbed my camera, hopped on my bicycle, and went for a ride. I’m very happy with how the photos turned out today, and the video is a fun way for me to relive the ride.

I’m down to using four fountain pens regularly: three Pilots and one LAMY. All my other Jinhaos are cleaned and put away in a pen case. They are nice pens, but they are the pens I used to keep at the office. After the COVID-19 pandemic is over and I return to working from the company HQ, I’ll break them out again, but for now the three pens in the photo (plus a Pilot Metropolitan) are the only ones seeing use these days.
I bet fountain pen enthusiasts will have no problem identifying the pen models in the photo just from seeing the caps. 😀✒

Anchovy pizza is not a thing you see very often on menus, which seems somewhat strange to me because it seems like such an iconic topping. Maybe it’s that way just for me or my generation, and I suspect it might have earned a permanent space in my mind because of old Looney Tunes cartoons. In writing this post, I found out that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles often ate anchovy pizzas, but that was a little after my time and I never watched them, so I suspect it was Bugs Bunny or even Scooby Doo that put anchovies into my brain.
At any rate, several years ago I first ate them on pizza, and I thought they weren’t very good. Basically salty and fishy. But I actually kept craving them, and after a few more tries, I grew to love anchovy pizza! Thankfully, canned anchovies are readily available in markets so I can have my anchovy fix whenever I want. I am still a little baffled on why I like them so much since I think they are still overly salty, but truth be told, whenever I see the can of anchovies in the pantry just waiting to be used, I get a warm feeling in my heart and a craving in my belly. 😊

I glanced out the window and noticed the sun was making a late appearance after hiding behind an overcast sky all day. I started taking photos from my backyard, but thought I might get a better image from a wide-open area that’s not far from the house, so I hopped on my bike and headed over. I was not disappointed!
It seems like a long time since I’ve seen a nice sunset…

I’ve been enjoying evening rides lately, just cruising around in the cool night air, but my front light have a very weak beam, rated at something like 150 lumens. So I bought a new, more powerful light: the IPSXP 1000 Lumens Bike Light. I’m not sure it really puts out 1000 lumens, but it is a heck of a lot brighter than my old light (which I will keep as a backup). The extra power on the new light is great when traveling in places that don’t have street lamps, such as the bike path I went on tonight. Safer bike-riding is more fun!

On tonight’s ride, I explored some shopping areas that I haven’t looked at very closely just to see what kind of shops are there. Nothing really seemed to interesting, but it was fun to pass by the wine bar and burger bar and smell the delicious food. I also rode past a small pond and the frogs were out croaking away. It was really cool! I really like night riding and I am looking forward to the summer when it stays light later into the evening.
I hope you had a great day! またね~
