A lovely evening for a bicycle ride! 🚲🌇

daily slice-of-life photo blog of a Gen-X dad

Mariko bought this little contraption to grow some plants. We added some seeds of “edible flowers” so we’ll see what sprouts from those. Regardless of the success of the harvest, the light is kind of neat but creepy at night. I like it!
We still don’t know the identities of ヨルシカ / n-buna and I am happy about that! I was worried the live performance would be some sort of reveal.
Enjoy!

Today I had to pay the registration fee for my motorcycle and decided to ride my bicycle to the county tax office to take care of it. It was a nice feeling to use the bicycle instead of the car to get things done. Soon, though, the Texas heat will be upon us and any bicycling will involve lots of sweat, so trips like this will be less pleasant than it was today, but for now, I will enjoy the comfortable weather.
In related news, my motorcycle is now registered again. Yay!

I’m pretty sure that within the next day or two I will be ordering a new camera. I still love my Fujifilm X100T, but the aperture ring gets stuck often, and now the entire lens assembly is getting loose. I suppose I could send it in for repair (and I probably will eventually), but it’s a good time for the new camera because we’re upping the quality of Mariko’s online cooking classes, and looking for a main studio camera.
FYI Mariko’s current cameras (Fujifilm X-T10 and Olympus E-PL9) aren’t able to work as webcams (the HDMI ports only display photos, not stream video), so a camera that can do that is essential. The plan is for the new camera to work double-duty as my everyday camera, and as a studio video camera when needed.
I almost 100% sure on which camera I’ll get, but will do a little bit more research just to make sure. Exciting times! 📸

Today I took Kiki (my motorbike) to get its annual safety inspection. Truth be told, I don’t always do this every year, and as such, the registration lapses and I can’t renew it online. So once again, I have to go in-person to the county office to renew the registration. I’m too lazy!
Anyways, the inspection is cheap (US $7) and the guys at the shop are laid-back and friendly. Some of them also ride motorcycles, so there’s a nice kinship and the inspection always goes smoothly. 😄
