Mariko had a couple of friends over to celebrate a birthday (socially-distanced outside on the deck), and one of the goodies on the menu were delicious oysters! Topped with ikura, tobiko, wasabi, and a dash of ponzu, it was excellent.

We’ve had this piano for five years, but it’s time to let it go to another home where it will get played regularly. Thank you, and goodbye!
Today I went out for a lunchtime run in a direction I don’t usually go. But I wanted to have a destination to run to so I chose the local library. It’s kind of an interesting neighborhood to run through because of mix of houses, and there’s a bit of off-pavement trail to run on as well.
I was feeling good when I reached my destination, but when I saw the flags at half-staff, I had to pause for a moment as a wave of sadness came over me. 😞
Today’s photo is of a lamp on my desk in which I have stuck some pins I’ve collected recently. I’m thinking of putting them in some kind of frame or board because I’d like to just have an uncluttered lamp, but I’m also pretty lazy, so the pins will stay where they are for the foreseeable future. 😄
I’m getting psyched for the upcoming Inktober! Just like last year, I’ll be doing daily drawings on my iPad but not following the official Inktober prompts. And of course, these won’t be ink drawings.
I’ve been really lax about my digital drawing, so this will be good for me. I know I learned a lot last year and am looking forward to what this year will bring as far as new techniques and preferences.
Today’s photo is of a drawing I started. I am basically getting a line drawing ready to use as a basis for different kinds of styles.
The original painting is The Virgin of the Annunciation by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo which I viewed at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Unfortunately, one of Murillo’s other paintings was in the news recently because of a botched restoration attempt. 😔
Oh well, nothing is permanent…
