Yay, back to work! 😨 So busy… but life is good!
Mother’s Day
こんばんは。How’s it going?
Today is Mother’s Day! Unfortunately, Mariko had to work this morning, so she didn’t get to hear the kids wish her a happy Mother’s Day good morning since they slept in late. But when she returned home this afternoon, we celebrated with mimosas and her gift, which was a Fitbit Blaze. She’s been very active lately, so she wanted to track her steps and heart rate. I think the Fitbit Blaze is a good watch for this!
This evening we celebrated at Alamo Drafthouse movie theater and watched Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 2. What a fun movie! Highly recommended. Funny to see Tango and Cash together again, although they never shared any scenes.
Today’s photo is of another old film scan of a photo I took in 1998 in Japan. I applied a lot of noise reduction to this on in Lightroom and it looks a little painterly. I kind of like it. 😊

Day Trip Photos
こんばんは。
A couple more photos from way back in 1998. I took a day trip to Atami and walked around the area, taking photos. Actually, I’m not sure exactly where this was, but I am pretty sure I walked around there one day on my own.
I loved taking these small solo trips. So fun to just explore and wander around the area. A leisurely day for sure. ☺️

Today’s Photo
こんばんは。
Today’s photo is of the sky this morning. It’s not a great picture, but I try to take at least a few photos every day. If nothing else, it keeps my muscle memory sharp! 🙂
I have been scanning in my old slide film from when I lived in Japan (1996-1999) and have been enjoying it quite a bit! I attribute the new-found enjoyment on my improved Lightroom skills. It’s a lot of fun recovering the images as best I can and it brings back a lot of good memories. I’m putting together an album of these images on Flickr so I’ll have them all in one location. Please take a look when you can!
Here are a couple recently edited photos:
I hope you had a nice Friday!

Photo break
こんばんは。How’s it going?
Today I decided to take a break from taking photos, but I did get a bit of inspiration this evening and scanned some of my old slides.
These photos were taken with either my Minolta X-100 or my Minolta α507si on Fujifilm Velvia or Sensia (I edited the scans in Lightroom). When I lived in Japan, I loved roaming the city snapping photos. I can only imagine how many photos I would have taken if good digital cameras existed back then!
Shooting film was really great though. I enjoyed it a lot. Loading the film, taking the time to make more deliberate photos, and the anticipation when the film is at the lab was all part of the fun. I doubt I will go back to film, but I’m glad I had the experience.
I hope you had a nice Thursday.
