Tonight we had dinner at Yokocho, a Japanese restaurant that serves a variety of small izakaya-style dishes and drinks. They also offer ramen and udon if you’re in the mood for a comforting bowl of noodles.
What makes Yokocho stand out is the decor—it feels like stepping into Japan from about 75 years ago. Very cool atmosphere!

As for the food, I thought it was just okay, but the overall experience was definitely interesting and worth checking out.

Sushi at home is so much fun! I especially enjoy hamachi and hotate, and there was plenty to go around tonight. I’m usually not a big fan of maguro, but it was surprisingly tasty this time. The salmon is always delicious, as usual. Honestly, I could eat sushi like this every night!

Yakiniku Dinner

We have three boys in their early twenties living at home, so cooking meals that actually fill them up has been a bit of a new challenge. Tonight’s yakiniku really hit the spot, though. Everyone was full and happy! It was absolutely delicious, and we packed in a ton of veggies too — bean sprouts, spinach, onion, eggplant, and jalapeños. We even added some kimchi for a boost of gut health!

Curry Udon

Tonight we had curry udon for dinner. As you can see in the photo, it was loaded with pork, onion, and egg, so much so that the noodles are barely visible!

The combination of the rich curry broth with the pork, onions, egg, and udon noodles was excellent. It was a really satisfying and tasty meal. I drank up all the broth too, so the bowl was clean!
