New Nike Pacifics

I went shoe shopping this morning and walked out with two pairs. 👟

I originally went to look at some Adidas I spotted in Osaka last month, but they didn’t feel great once I tried them on. I kept browsing and found some blue Nike Pacifics on sale that looked and felt good, so those went in the cart.

Then I wandered into the women’s section and found the same shoe in different colors, including a white version and a brighter blue. I knew right away I wanted the white ones. The blue took a little more thought, but I went with the darker shade since it’s a bit less flashy. (see bottom photo)

I used the store credit card and got $30 off, so two pairs of shoes for $93 after tax. Not bad at all!

Both pairs are heading to Japan next trip. One will stay there permanently. My Japan wardrobe is already pretty set since I left pants, shirts, underwear, and my Converse high-tops there last time. The goal is to eventually travel between our two homes with nothing more than what I’m wearing and a spare set of sleeping clothes for layovers. I think it’s a good plan. 😄

Quick FYI: I always lace one shoe differently than the other. Just a habit I’ve had since I was a kid. 😄

My buddy and I hit up a couple of motorcycle shops today just to look around. I spotted a Triumph Trident 660 Tribute Edition and had to snap a photo for my son. We just had a little conversation about “6-7” recently, so I figured he’d get a kick out of it. 😄

I also sat on my future bike, the Triumph Speed 900. There’s a 2025 model sitting there for $10,893 out the door, which is pretty tempting. But life with Kiki is still great, so for now I’ll just keep dreaming. 🏍️

I finally finished the dorama Tokyo Love Story. While many people consider it one of the best Japanese dramas ever, I thought it was pretty mediocre. I felt like the characters’ relationships were defined not by friendship or experiences, but by cheating on each other and deciding whether or break up. It seemed like that was the whole show. Every episode. I did enjoy the theme song and the slice of life of 90s Japan, though. Anyways, I’m glad to put this one behind me and move on to something different. 6/10

Pretty Clouds

After work this evening I laced up my shoes and headed out for a run. The clouds were putting on quite a show, and I kept glancing up to admire them as I made my way along.

It’s been a couple of months since I’ve been running regularly, so I struggled a bit. 😅 Still, I managed to make it the entire route without stopping… except for the photo breaks to capture the beautiful clouds. 📸☁️

There’s a great song by Blur called Coffee and TV, but tonight I had my own version: Curry and TV. 🍛 The hardest part of the evening was picking what to watch from my “Continue Watching” queue. I ended up going with Gimbap and Onigiri followed by Tokyo Love Story. Good times! 📺

Oh, and that bottom photo? That’s the scene of the crime. I’m pretty sure Anko was licking the ladle and knocked it right onto the floor! 🐱
