I’ve been watching Hirayasumi lately, and I love it. 😄 The show is genuinely funny in that low-key, slice-of-life way. And now I’ve started reading the manga in Japanese for practice — very slowly — but honestly that’s making it even more enjoyable.
Tonight we hit up Tian Tian Chinese restaurant with friends and family, and what started as dinner turned into a full-on feast. 🥢 We kicked things off with dim sum and kept going with Peking duck, fried whole fish, and eel. Every dish was so good. By the end of the meal we were completely stuffed and nobody was complaining. It’s always nice to get everyone together around a table like that. 🦆
This Yebisu beer was a gift from a friend, and I have to say, it really shines when it’s ice cold. 🍺 It’s the perfect way to close out a long day of work. Cheers!
This evening I made a pot of Shin Ramyun with my go-to upgrades. 🍜 With about two minutes left on the timer, I drop an egg into the pot. After I turn off the flame, I add a little sesame oil and lay a slice of American cheese on top. That’s my baseline. Tonight though, we had shrimp tempura from Costco, so I threw two pieces on top of everything. It was so good. I need to make sure we always have that stuff in the freezer. 🍤
I finished Gimbap and Onigiri today! 🎉 At 10 episodes, I think the length felt just right, though honestly they probably could have wrapped everything up in 8. It’s a light, slow, and innocent little romance with no shocking twists or dramatic moments. It’s just two people taking their time. That’s not a complaint, just a fair warning. If you’re okay with tame and sweet, I think it’s worth the watch. 🍙
Had to grab another box of Shin Ramyun on my Costco run tonight. It’s just so good! 🍜
Finally finished Who Rules the World – all 40 episodes. 📺 Took me a while to get through it, but totally worth it. There were some slow patches in the middle, mostly political intrigue stuff, but the action scenes kept things moving. Around episode 30 it really hit its stride and didn’t let up.
The costumes were great (though not quite Story of Pearl Girl level, just my opinion), and the battle armor near the end was especially cool. The ending surprised me – the whole story went somewhere I didn’t expect, particularly with Zhao Lusi’s character. Really well done.
Not ready to jump into another long one just yet. A little breather first. 😌
