I’m seeing many more photos on Instagram and Twitter of people’s homemade bread since the stay-at-home lifestyle has begun, and it’s awesome! Of course, I have to post some of Mariko’s bread too since it’s the best. This one is a sourdough loaf (my favorite), but she also made malasadas today for the first time. They were delicious!

It’s a good thing that I love to eat sandwiches because we have so much delicious bread… I just can’t get enough of it. Yay for bakers! 🍞 🥐

Blue Jay at the Feeder

Here’s a photo of the most frequent visitor to our backyard bird feeder. This blue jay loves to eat the black-oil sunflower seeds, and while I thought it might bully the other birds, it seems that everyone has a chance to get some food in peace. Even some mourning doves and grackles have been finding their way to the feeder! 😀

We have a second feeder in the front of the house too. It’s actually a clear plastic shelf-type feeder that is suction cupped to the office window. It took a while for the birds to find it, but every once in a while, the blue jay, black-crested titmouse, or cardinals will visit for a snack and a peek into the office while I work. I’ll try to get a picture next time, but there is some serious back-light, so it probably won’t look so nice. We’ll see!

I hope you had a good day.

Grocery Order and Pick-Up

We ordered a bunch of groceries online for pickup this afternoon. We really love our HEB supermarkets here in Texas, and even more so during the pandemic. We’re really grateful to have the option to order online and have the groceries packed in the car for us. I just parked in the designated spot, opened the back of my car, then texted the store that I had arrived. The mask-wearing HEB employee loaded the groceries in the back and I was all set! I think this system is safer for both the shoppers and the workers. The only downside is that it can be difficult to find an open slot for the service, but still, we’re fortunate to have this service available. Go HEB!
