Enjoy your Sunday night!
Mistaken identity

“You Wish” Austin, 2016
Yesterday I was returning to my minivan and I spotted some writing on my windows! Someone had used lipstick to write “You Wish” on the rear passenger side. WTH?! For a second I pondered what it meant… perhaps it meant “You wish your car could fit in the small parking space.” But that didn’t make any sense since I wasn’t in a compact car space.
Then I realized that this silver Honda Odyssey was not mine. If you look just past it, you can see my car tucked away in the next parking space… ah, a case of mistaken identity, by me. Whew!
Morning Downtown

“Shirts for Bookworms” Austin, 2016
こんばんは! Hello, how was your Saturday?
Mine was pretty good. This morning I took the kids to Japanese school and then had the morning to myself downtown, so I went to my two regular places: Whole Foods Market and BookPeople. First stop was the market but I didn’t buy any groceries today. Instead I had a healthy breakfast of spinach, cilantro tofu, and salmon. It was yummy! I enjoyed that while working on a blog post. I usually sit upstairs on the mezzanine level and I had a nice little view that you can sort of see in the photo below.

“Blogging” Austin, 2016
It was nice and relaxing and zero stress. Just what a weekend breakfast should be like! After finishing my blog post, I went across the street to my next stop: BookPeople. The photo at the beginning of this post is of some of the fun t-shirts they have for sale. I particularly like the Choose Your Own Adventure shirt, although I wish they had a “By Balloon to the Sahara” version. I would probably have to buy that one if they offered it, since that was my favorite book of the series.
I didn’t do any book shopping (I have too many books to get through at the moment) but just enjoyed a nice large “Hemingway” from the cafe, which is coffee and two shots of espresso. Just the kick I needed. ☕
It was a perfect morning… I enjoy visiting the book store very much!
Take care!

Staff photos
I’m pretty much unofficially the official company photographer at my work, and one of my tasks has been to take headshots of employees. Since I’ve been with the company for close to 11 years now, I’ve taken many, many, many headshots…
These days I sometimes use LinkedIn, and I see lots of these headshot photos that I have taken. It’s fun to see, and I am flattered that they still use them, but I find it somewhat odd that people who are no longer with the company still use the headshot I took.
It got me wondering about the rights to the photos… I don’t care too much about it, but I did spend company time on each photo, and used the company equipment and facilities. I guess I feel that it’s a bit unprofessional to keep using the company photo when you aren’t with the company anymore.
Besides the issue described above, some of those images are probably over five years old… it’s really time to get a new one taken, people!
Stormy Friday

“Chromebook” Cedar Park, 2016
こんばんは! Hello, how’s it going?
Well, it’s Friday, and another weekend is upon us. Here in the States, we have a long weekend because Monday we are observing Memorial Day to honor our soldiers who gave their lives so that we may enjoy our freedom and way of life. We don’t have any special plans for Monday, so we’ll probably put up our flag and take it easy at home.
Last night a huge storm passed over the area and dumped a lot of rain down on us. It was pretty scary and there’s a lot of flooding, although the area that our house is in is not in any danger. But it is still scary because we live on the edge of tornado country. 😬 I imagine that with climate change happening more quickly than we thought, the severe weather will only get worse. Scary to think about!
Anyways, today’s photo is of my Chromebook which is still very useful. I am actually using it right now to type this blog post! I realize that one of the things that is important to me in my electronics is battery life. That’s one reason I love my Kindle (lasts months on a single charge) and my Chromebook (10 hours continuous battery life!). I also realize that I cannot just use a tablet as my main mobile device because I need a real keyboard. The laptop form-factor is perfect for me to work on my blog. But, I know that I need another more robust computer as well, to run Lightroom and store all my photos, handle backups, downloads, and general computing. So, a two computer setup is essential at this time in my life.
Well, I am going to read my book. It’s an action-packed fantasy page-turner! I am enjoying “Furies of Calderon” very much so far.
I hope you had a nice Friday!
