こんばんは!Greetings humans! 👽

As you can see from today’s photo, I’m “enjoying” the new exercise bike. It’s actually pretty good, although my legs are so weak. I get tired after only 10 minutes! I guess the energy drink I had wasn’t conducive to burning calories but I thought it was delicious. 🍺

I mentioned in my previous post that I wanted to try to wake up early and exercise before getting ready for work. Yeah, that didn’t happen. I am taking advantage of the fact that I don’t need to wake up the kids (Spring Break) and make breakfast for them. So I can sleep in! I will enjoy this week as well. 😜

But seriously, we read that if you can exercise more in your 40s, you’ll have a much healthier brain in your 60s. I don’t know if it is true or not, but it is good motivation to get active, which has other benefits. Plus, it’s fun to exercise. And then I can also enjoy yummy foods more, right?

Well, I am going to try to sleep early to counteract the daylight savings adjustment. Talk to you again!

こんばんは!The weather today was amazing… sunny and almost 90 degrees. This is perhaps the one or two week period where we have great weather before it gets really hot. But it’s kind of too early… only March!

Also, it’s the time of year where we adjust our clocks forward an hour. We have “Daylight Savings” here, so now it is darker when we wake up but stays lighter later into the evening. This time, I am having a really hard time adjusting to it. I usually wake up somewhere in the 5am hour, and naturally it is now in the 6am hour. But for some reason I cannot shift back to 5am. It hasn’t been a problem yet since I have been working from home the past two days and the kids are on spring break so they don’t need to wake up early. But tomorrow I will need to go in to work so I should try to get back to my normal schedule. We’ll see if I can do it!

Today’s photo is of our coffee pot… it’s wearing a scarf! Actually, it’s a kitchen towel that I wrap around to try to keep the heat in. It’s all about hot coffee!

Well, it’s late already (11:20pm is late for me), so I should try to get to bed so I can wake up early. Take care! おやすみなさい!

こんばんは!Happy Thursday!

We’re getting a lot of rain here in central Texas, which is great because we always suffer dry summers it seems. So hopefully the rain is filling up the lakes.

Today was a strange day at work. I worked pretty much non-stop from 7:45am until 4:25pm (working through lunch) but the weird thing was, I didn’t even have time to open Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator. I spent the entire time either in meetings, or emailing people and coordinating projects. And it was EXHAUSTING. I don’t think I’ve ever had a day like that before… I didn’t realize it before, but all that planning and crafting emails takes a lot of brainpower. At the end of the day I was in a daze! But it was great to know that all of that planning was necessary and important and will be a huge benefit in the near future.

As I was observing how fatiguing that kind of work was today, I remembered something that was said in the asadora Amachan. One of the experienced sea-urchin divers told the newbie diver to not think while underwater. Huh? It turns out that all that brain activity uses up a lot more oxygen, and therefore you cannot stay underwater as long. Maybe today’s type of work, which I am not used to, was using up all my energy.

Today’s photo was taken at the drive-thru of our local In-n-Out. When I got home from work, the family requested this specifically, and I was happy to oblige! I love the burgers there. My oldest son loves to order a double-double animal style, and his brother likes his double-double with no onion, tomato, or spread. I got a cheeseburger animal style, and my wife got a regular cheeseburger plus pickles. It was delicious as usual! 🍔

Well, the weekend is almost here! I hope you have a great Friday.

こんばんは! Hello, everyone! How was your Tuesday?

Mine was pretty good. On the work front, I am finally catching up with all my tasks and can now start working on projects that have kept getting pushed back. This feels good! ☺️

Today’s photo is of my dinner this evening. It’s spicy salmon bowl, with avocado… and it was delicious! For lunch I had a tuna sandwich which was also yummy, so today was an all-fish day. And a few days this past week, I didn’t have any meat whatsoever. I think this is a good thing too. (although on Sunday we did have a full rack of baby-back ribs at home) I kind of want to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and for breakfast I’ve been having a healthy mix of dried fruit and nuts. Plus lots of water! I guess what I am trying to say (badly, apparently) is that I am starting to eat healthier!

I’m pretty tired right now, though, since I woke up pretty early today. So I’ll say goodnight and get some rest! おやすみなさい!

Gardening day

こんばんは!How’s it going?

Today was a continuation of our backyard gardening weekend. We cleaned up the large gardening bed and planted a bunch of peppers, some tomato plants, eggplant, chives, and parsley. In addition, we cleaned up the deck a lot and rearranged a bit. I also extended a garden hose up to the deck to make it easier to water the plants up there, and then I took an extra length of hose and moved it to the front yard to replace an old cracked hose.

So, we are pretty much good to go for the garden! Next, we’d like to get the backyard trees trimmed nicely. But that is something that we’ll have to have a tree service take care of, and that will cost us a good deal of money. I think it is really worth it though, because it is a lot of work to cut all the branches and haul it away. Plus, knowing what branches to cut is a skill in itself, and I want to leave that to the professionals.

This weekend was pretty exhausting on my old body… I am kind of sore today because of yesterday’s work, and tomorrow I will probably be suffering from today’s effort!

The photo above is of some small herbs that we planted up on the deck, and the photos below show our large garden bed down below. It measures 12 feet by 4 feet, so we can plant a lot of things in it!
