こんばんは。How’s it going?

Tonight’s dinner that my wife made for us was delicious as usual, but what is interesting is that the main dish is a backup. Mariko started to prepare a fish dish, but the frozen whitefish fell apart in the pan and didn’t taste right. So she threw it out and prepared the dish you see in the photo above seemingly out of thin air. I don’t know how she does it. To me, it’s such an amazing skill to be able to look at what we have in our fridge, then find a recipe in a minute or two, and finally possessing the skill to actually put it all together.

I don’t like to brag, but hey, I’m going to have to brag today! 😆 I have the best wife if the world.

I hope you had a nice Friday!

こんばんは。How’s it going?

Today is Opening Day of the 2019 major-league baseball season here in the States, and to celebrate, I had a hot dog for lunch. In true melting-pot of America style, I got the Vietnamese-styled hot dog, which according to the Mission Dogs website, has cucumber-carrot-jalapeño-cilantro slaw, garlic-chili sauce, and Sriracha mayo. These toppings sit on top of a bacon-wrapped hot dog. This dog is DELICIOUS!

Anyway, I streamed a game at work in the afternoon (sorry for being a bandwidth hog) on mlb.tv (free once again for T-Mobile customers!), and then at home Bay and I watched the Dodger game. What made this particular game awesome was that the Dodgers hit 8 home runs, which is an MLB opening day record!

I’m looking forward to another world series run for my favorite team, and hopefully, we can win one before I get too old. 😄

Omiyage for Me

Mariko brought back a few omiyage (souvenirs/gifts) from Japan for me, including this book by one of my favorite illustrators. Blue by Nakamura Yusuke is full of amazing drawings… I love it. And it is interesting because I told Mariko that I wanted a book of his, and one of Mariko’s friends (who is also a fantastic illustrator) is actually good friends with Nakamura-san! I had actually sent Mariko a link to a different book, but her friend recommended Blue instead. I’m so happy! It’s wonderful.

Another goodie that she brought back was this pack of gum, which is supposed to help with your memory. 😆 Let’s hope it works.

Lastly, is this mayonnaise, which is supposed to be fantastic. It’s not for me specifically, but I thought it was pretty cool.

Hi there! Just a couple of snapshots today… the first is of a new microphone I bought for recording Koa’s percussion concerts. It’s an inexpensive shotgun microphone which plugs into our Fujifilm X-T10. I only tried it out to see if it works so I don’t know the quality, but it should be an improvement over the camera’s built-in mic.

The second photo is of Yuzu, relaxing on the toast pillow by the ol’ printer. ☺

In other news, I’m going to shoot more using the 16:9 aspect ratio. Years ago when I started building websites, I was really into wide-format imagery. I still find it attractive, so I’ll be taking more photos using it.

I hope you had a great day!
